The only comic in the new Ultimate line that I'm really interested in. I appreciate how different it is and that it's not focusing on the same old characters you'd expect them to...at least for now.

Did not care for the dudes, but Dragoness was my favorite (well, her and Tempo!). I love that she had a name like 'Dragoness' and her mutant power was electrical bolts from her hands (and, at least at the start, she had mechanical wings on her scaly green suit, perhaps powered by her bio-electricity? Although later she was drawn with actual organic wings, which could suggest a deliberate change, or someone not doing the research...).

At least initially, there really wasn't anything 'dragon-y' about her mutant power, she just really liked dragons, I guess? (Just like how 'Batman' doesn't really have 'bat powers,' ironically, that's *Daredevil!*)

I could see her giving Stryfe an ultimatum. "I'll totally join your Mutant Liberation Front future-guy with advanced super-tech armor! But I want a battlesuit, but it has to look dragon-y! With scales and wings and..." "No fire breath." "Aw, please..." "No, you already have lightning. Stay in your lane!"

My head canon is that the mechanical wings were prosthetics because she had organic wings that had been cut off.

Yes, there was at least one comic run where it's a suit she can take off and she looks normal without the wings... but... that wasn't the original creative team doing it. Then in House of M Dragoness is drawn with organic wings. I wanna say there was a time when Rogue grew wings from borrowing Tamara's power, but I'm not really sure. Might be thinking of someone else. Also... tHIS appearance... her wings look natural.

Probably not a popular idea, but if they ever decided to reimagine Cloak & Dagger -- or introduce an alternate Earth version of them -- I hope the artists consider AAPI representation in those roles.

I've always liked the idea that alternate realities often invite various reinterpretations of existing characters. I'd try it at least once -- and not just with C&D -- and have a little fun with it. Even if it was just on an Ultraverse Earth-type deal.

I was surprised that no AAPI focused issue of MARVEL'S VOICES has been solicited yet for 2024. Usually they do it in May, but this year they solicited the Pride issue for May. I hope we still get one later in the year.

Yeah..... that's a weird story. Apparently, it was one of the Marvel handbooks that specified they're actually two different characters.
