A shame that Marvel allowed the Bendis and Millar's Ultimate Universe to DIE by allowing the creators to kill off the characters. This is what happens when you keep a creative team on a series for too long. They get bored as time passes along. No longer excited about their creation.
You can just say Jeph Loeb and the bad Ultimate Comics he wrote.
Marvel kills off Bendis's Ultimate Universe instead of passing the torch to Hickman, thus avoid creating the secret wars crisis...
Are we talking about Hickman's current Ultimate Universe, or his work during the original one? I understood that it was him who resigned (from all Fantastic four, Ultimate Comics: Ultimates, and SHIELD, which he was writing at that time), not that Marvel removed him. At that point Marvel still had interest in keeping the Ultimate universe going, and Hickman was an influential author: besides Ultimates, he wrote the minis of Thor and Hawkeye and was involved in the collaborative writing of Fallout. If he had stayed, he may have left a stronger mark in it over time and perhaps it may even had become "his" universe (or at least in equal shared parts with Bendis and Millar, rather than just Bendis/Millar as it is known today), but that was up to him.

The original Ultimate Universe.

man the two issues of Ultimate X-Men really rough. Peach Momoko is the wrong artist for this book. She should just do an independent manga instead. It doesn't even feel X-Men to me. Just feels like another manga, which sets the wrong tone.

The Maker eliminated a lot of heroes from Earth 6160. The world has more dead characters compared to the old Ultimate Universe. Ka-Zar and Zabu are dead; the savage land was genocided. Black Bolt was murdered as a child.
Certainly not a universe of retelling.

Conspiracy theory: We're not getting Weapon X, but we may still get Wolverine. It's Bone-Claws time, baby! (Yes, I'm delusional)

I haven't read the issue but doesn't the page cut off from actually showing "Weapon X"?
If so thats clearly intended to be ambiguous and generate speculation on Wolverine's status in the setting. He could very well appear in some form later on.

IIRC Marvel took Hickman off of the old Ultimate Universe because it wasn’t selling enough to justify his paycheck. It launched alongside the New 52 and DC kicked their ass.

The FCBD ultimates preview was good, reinforces my excitement for the series. I like how Camp seems to be revitalizing underutilized characters so far and I hope Cloak and Dagger are some of them lol

Lol at Camp homaging that infamous page. So Black Panther is definitely joining, Ant-Man and Wasp are already confirmed. One of the silhouettes looks like Captain Marvel. Maybe She-Hulk will be the other woman joining?
The DoomReed panel has me very intrigued, what’s that supposed to signify? Is he running experiments?

I'm more than certain this is setting up that he's gonna (re)create the Fantastic Four. Either by making new (or pre-existing) characters take on the roles or by cloning them or something

Ultimatum was actually a team effort with Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Millar, Warren Ellis, the two Heroes writers that took over UXM and UFF, Joe Quesada, a few other people. Originally, it was supposed to be a small comic crossover sort of like Ultimate X4 or Ultimate War, but Bendis decided it could be bigger. It was not just Loeb.

Keep a creative team on a series book for too long and things will implode.

- "What does the letter on his head stand for, mommy?"
- "No idea, but surely it does not stand for France"

Kieron Gillen has some praise for ultimates #1 on his Twitter. Even though I know its normal for fellow creative talk up each other's books, this has me hyped regardless.
