This is going to be the movie that saves superhero films, directed by the person that made the two best comic book movies of this decade (The Suicide Squad and GotG3). If it can't, well, nothing could.

I'm honestly not psyched about Wildstorm characters in DC movies
So it really does seem like this is going to be "What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice, and The American Way?" only with the actual Authority characters instead of just stand-ins like the Elite were.

Yeah, she's got a great visual. I'm not a fan of the Authority (I much preferred the Stormwatch team they replaced, with Battalion, Diva, Winter, Flint, etc.), but Angela's the best of the bunch, IMO.

Pretty much. I think it works well now too in a world where "The Boys" is one of the more popular takes on superheroes and DC's last run was super edgy and dark featuring Superman killing Zod, a dark and jaded old Batman who didn't mind killing, and two Suicide Squad films. Framing the Authority as the modern concept of superheroes and Superman being the new kid on the block that shows everyone that there is a better way to do things feels sort of right.
Also let's be real, The Authority works better on multiple fronts. As you said, The Elite were just stand ins. But the Authority is a team you can also make other movies out of longterm in a way The Elite just don't have staying power.

The last films were nowhere near the darkest superheroes have ever been. They weren't even the darkest Superman has ever been.
If they are doing What's So Funny, I hope they do a better job than the comic did because that story just threw a bunch of strawman in for Superman to burn down.
We should get casting announcements for Lex and Jimmy soon.
