The first few Lupin Part One episodes are fairly close to the manga in content and somewhat darker but Miyazaki and some other future Ghibli people take over and tone it down considerably, and there's some kind of proto-Cagliostro plotted episodes.

The popular Part II/red Jacket series seems to balance things a bit more content-wise, some episodes are more serious while others are more goofy, almost Hanna Barbera-style comedy. The first film, Mystery of Mamo, is fairly closer to the manga's style, especially the character designs. It also seems to be going for a fairly surreal tone at times, in a few ways similar to Beautiful Dreamer-it's very different from Castle's almost fairy tale feel but it has it's creative moments.

Saw the screening of Gundam Seed Freedom. The plot and characters will probably be pretty hard to follow for those who haven't seen both TV shows, and Hisashi Hirai's character designs (Which feature some minor adjustments such as more visible lips for the female characters) don't translate as well to the big screen as well as some other anime.

Kira, Lacus and Athrun are pretty good, Shinn is actually played more as comic relief this time but also has some great moments during the battles.

There's plenty of great Gundam action though (although the CGI used to augment them is a bit obvious in some shots, mainly of missiles) and an "Everything and the kitchen sink" finale (Kind of like ENDGAME a bit).

There's some stuff about a new leader of Blue Cosmos called Michael and the Strike Freedom going missing in the first hour but they're kind of dropped when the main plot unfolds.
