    Yeah, I have to agree.
They have written themselves into a bit of a corner by trying to force Planetary more "in line" with the old WildStorm universe, rather than having it comfortably just off to the side. That leaving them to ignore what is almost the last 4 years of stories as that led to Worlds End an all those post apocalypse stories.
There is no way that any of that reset & then actual apocalypse level events would fit in their "things are going great oh no looks it's the Flash" story they are giving.
That aside I did enjoy the Jakita character study, though it's an interesting take on her nature and how it would "evolve" over time/relate to the events going on.

    Ok let me no-prize this.

Since all the reboots retroactively change characters pasts, captain atom never went to the wild storm universe and never destroyed it.
Chronologically, this wild storm universe was destroyed around the of vol 1 of the authority, judging by Drummers comments about them killing God

Kate really wants no part of this team.

Issue was entertaining enough, not much else to say, just backstory. The Final Knight appeared again, which is good for Duke fans.

So I had another look through and my thoughts are this - we're more than halfway through this limited series and the heroes remain impotent.

Luke doesn't seem able to suceed at anything on his own, Kate's been backhandedly mocked multiple times for being a Bat, and now Drummer/Jakita who had seemed to be the only one capable of achieveing anything - is shown in this issue to be just as incapable of achieving her goals as the other two.

Still having enough fun reading the series, personally, but there's not a lot to get excited about for me. I suppose now that the backstory is out of the way they might start being more active now and cause things to happen rather than have things happen around them.

NICE UNIVERSE, SURE WOULD BE A SHAME IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO IT. As they grapple with the shocking revelations of the last three issues, the Outsiders race to protect the fabric of reality. Within the Carrier, the Drummer is ready to play her encore — and it's going to bring the house down.

So I've been listening to some reviews and it seems that the people getting the most out of this series are both long-time DC fans who have also read the original Planetary. Not sure if that's a lot of people, but I for one haven't read Planetary, or all of the various DC reboots (though a fair few), so some of references are lost on me. Still enjoying it enough though, just not super excited for each new issue.

If you are a "Big Picture..." comics fan?

    Planetary is a must.

I love Planetary and I'm a long time DC fan and I get the references...but the book just isn't very good. I wanted it to be...but it just isn't.
