That's the thing that writers like this don't get. This kind of overt favouritism can be off putting.

it can turn apathy and indifference into dislike.
No amount of hyping Tim over damian is going to turn a Damian fan into a tim fan but it could turn a future Tim fan into a tim hater and an indifferent fan into a damian sympathizer.

The focus should be on writing interesting characters not perfect characters.

It's just too on the nose. Most people can see that the other members of the batfamily are written badly or get simply ignored to make Tim shine in this.
Zdarsky would need to be way more subtle, but instead he puts it in the text that Bruce thinks less of his other partners just so he can then tell us Tim is perfect.
Heck, he had a shining Tim descend from above on a Bruce in the shadows to save Bruce from the place far from home he couldn't return to on his own after he had Tim repeat over and over again that for some reason he was the only who could rescue Bruce while everyone else told him just how right he was.
There is zero subtlety here.

It reminds me of the Glass/Thompson Teen Titans run that was supposed to make readers dislike Damian for turning into a villain and being terrible to his team only for people to start hating Damian's team and Bruce because it was clear what the writer and the editors were doing wasn't just a case of a writer getting to voice and history of a character wrong on accident, it was them sabotaging the character on purpose.

Or the two batcat beach issues in King's Batman run that were probably supposed to make readers batcat were simply perfect for each other, but a lot of people were extremely pissed off because Bruce was off doing couple's yoga and screwing his girlfriend on a beach while Gotham was burning, Damian was held hostage and Alfred had been killed.

What worse is that it’s not even true. Tim doesn’t do anything that Dick Jason Damian Cass couldn’t do for Batman. Yeah, Tim was created in a time where Bruce didn't have many allies. Dick was away with the Titans and not on good terms with Bruce. Jason was dead. The others didn't exist yet.
But in a world where none of this is true anymore he needs a writer that can finally think of a unique role for him that fits him and the current situation in the batman mythos.
Tim can't stay Robin forever. Even if Damian magically stops existing there will come another one.
A plan for what is next for Tim is long overdue, nobody profits from this. Not even Tim.

Picked up Boy Wonder and the art is divine.

The characterization was a tad simplified bit overall i enjoyed this first issue. This comes across more as a Robins book rather than a Damian one which is still very welcome.

Hopefully his characterisation of Jason and Tim are close enough to make this a better alternative to Seeley's Robins.

I like Seely as a writer but his introduction of a first Robin that predates Grayson seriously rubbed me the wrong way
