lemme look into my wonderlibrary with this one!

So, it kept appearing a little number of times more:

-First Rucka's run, amazons were using it to heal Io after she was attacked by Ares
-Second Rucka's run, not a ray, but some kinda "purple bath" is used to heal Steve Trevor wounds during Year One

Did a quick visual overview on Orlando's issues, but couldn't find anything, so I supose that if the purple ray appeared, it was just mentioned? there may be other non-Wondy canon comics too

Converting the healing abilities of the Purple Ray into a death-beam is kinda dope in scary-type of way. The Amazons incorporating "modern" tech into their military is something I think we need more of.
We are the Dora Milaje. We are the daughters of the 18 tribes of Wakanda. We are the teeth of the Panther God. Out of 10,000 years of sweat and bloodshed and battle are we born. We are the women of this ancient land. Deadliest of the species. And our time has come!

Who are the central Amazons that should remain around despite whomever is writing the book?
    Hmmmmm.

Hippolyte and Philippus (who is not replaced by Antiope or any other just because the actress is admired by the director or wtf ever)
    Nubia, Diana's Twin sister
Donna Troy, with all the origins we know and love; I embrace the chaos and dysfunction
Euboeia, Niobe, Penelope, Pythia (Julia's spiritual Mom), Venelia, Mala, Bahgda.

Artemis of the Bana. Io, forge mistress.

I do like a number of the spicier new Amazons as well.

Basically the crew that rolled with her for like ever prior to superhero adventure era that Byrne started.

I can't help but wonder if creators are burned out by the process of working with a major publisher, to the point that they never feel comfortable revisiting a character after their first run. There are so few creators that ever come back, even when they do great work.

...or maybe it's that DC gives everyone only one shot at a run, and once you've had your run, you're out, you're yesterdays news, it's someone else's chance or whatever.

Question: Is Euboea still an Amazon shown or featured in the books? The Asian one who was the great swimmer, with the green toga?

I flipped through the Wonder Woman issue during the Byrne run where they show the Amazons counting and burning their dead in the aftermath of...a war with Darkseid? Or something. It's gruesome.

How many Amazons are butchered in big events during the Post Crisis, pre Nu52 run?

In terms of huge battles with casualties there was:

    1) The Battle with Herakles
    2) The Byrne battle I just mentioned (Darkseid related?)
    3) The Civil War
    4) The Imperiex/Our Worlds At War battle (shown above)

Wonder how much those battles depleted the Amazonian ranks.

The 1st one saw half the remaining Amazons go off with Antiope, right?

Her resemblance to certain Weather-Witch is... uncanny.

They have certainly taken some losses although its never quite stated just how many. These days, whenever Themyscira (or even Atlantis or Gorilla City) is showcased, I expect them to experience some casualties.

Yeah, Raynor must have really liked that Amalgam comics story where Storm became an Amazon.
