Blade is DEFINITELY possessed by Varnae. We see him turn Strange and battle Clea to a stalemate. In this fight he's shown to know enough magic to block Clea's spells and then fights her with Atlantean swords that can cut through magic. So we're essentially seeing the most evil form of Blade, using his full vampirism and Varnae's knowledge of magic to take over the world. I saw some people online wondering if Blade was a double agent here but there's no way thats the case. We know he knows a little bit of magic, but not enough to stalemate someone like Clea with magic use

Given how Blade talks in the Dr. Strange issue about how this event was planned for thousands of years and having all this ancient lost knowledge and magic suddenly at his disposal the story sets up pretty well that he's being possessed. My guess is that by tapping more into his vampiric dark side, it's made Blade more susceptible to outside influences; especially those related to the Darkhold. And given Adana's fixation on watching Blade tap more into his dark side I'm guessing she might have had a hand in this as well. Like she knew this was going to happen all along or something.

I guess at least they went big and swung for the fences and committed to really expanding the reach of the story. I still have trauma from when Bishop was written to be evil out of nowhere and after years of building some good things, it took forever to get him back....and he still ain't been the same.

I’m quite convinced this is the work of Varnae. The repeated references to Old Atlantis catch my attention. Plus, “Blade” keeps talking about how long he’s been planning this.

Whenever this heel-turn for Blade is "eventually" over (will it end?), I'm hoping that Blade is not depowered. It would suck (pun intended) for him to go back to the circa-1973 default of his abilities.
I hope he can re-access Boy-Thing, maybe he has a few seeds/spores in a pouch somewhere.

Agreed, we got one issue of him using his powers. So far in Blood Hunt, we haven't even seen the Dracula powers. Mostly just Varnae's magic.

I’ve been VERY out of the loop y’all..where’s Peter exactly?? Cuz I feel violating a mentor relationship with Miles is like pressing the “Goku Button” with Vegeta. So is he off the board or does Blade got a serious Spider ass whoopin coming?? And that’s not even mentioning his crazy Moonie

It'll be interesting. Before it was written that Spiderman's radioactive blood would burn out the vampire virus after enough time, so Miles might be fine eventually. In this event, spiderman is off fighting vampires with Morbius I think

Peter is not the only mentor Miles had. He also had Ultimate Spider-Woman, Prowler, Misty Knight...

Actually, Miles' powers are from a genetically modified spider at the Ultimate universe, no radioactivity involved. His origin was edited in part to fit into the new context, but was it ever specifically retconned that it would have been a radioactive spider for him too?

Ok that would explain why it seems like he'll be a vampire past this event! No retcon as far as I know

The black panther tie-in shows another power Blade has that we didn't know because T'Challa uses it. He mesmerized a group of people accidentally, and says it's a power he got from Blade.
