    Default Roger Corman has passed

    At the age of 98.

There's probably no film fan of my generation that hasn't seen at least one Roger Corman produced film.

Between the distribution deals, film making sensibilities and careers he helped launch, blockbuster film making probably wouldn't exist as we know it now without Corman. He was called the King of B-movies but he was actually a lot more than that.

    May he RIP.

Yes, he was very good at keeping the movie budget as low as it can be.

May Roger Corman rest in peace.

I like The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death. I saw Battle Beyond the Stars at the cinema, too!

    Icon.

His influence is so wide-ranging, but I still gotta go to that '60s period of technicolor horror films he directed starring Vincent Price (and sometimes Ray Milland). Those films have such a singular feel. I adore them.

Of course, he pioneered independent filmmaking, exploitation filmmaking, broke more important filmmakers than anyone, and despite being associated with B-movies he actually had really great taste in movies! Those '60s horror films are filled with details cribbed from Europe arthouse classics, and in the '70s he used his distribution company to release classy foreign flicks amid his exploitation films!

I think there was some discussion in the "In Memoriam" section.

That being said, I agree with you because I thought more people would know about Corman and his impact on modern cinema.

I mean it quite literally that without him, we wouldn't get James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola.

I would make a comment about the monetary cost of his funeral but it might get me banned.
