Default Marvel is in its most Bizarre phase. MCU Bad, X-Men 97 Good?

What is going on with Marvel.

First they say MCU movies are fatigued and no longer watchable, their latest film was Captain Marvel and a flop. Its cool now to hate Marvel products except X-Men 97.

I see people calling this show the greatest thing Marvel has ever done. Claiming it is better than all the MCU films. We have Kevin Feige begging their creators to make it part of the MCU, we have James Gunn also praising this cartoon saying it is a sign there is a no comic fatigue. The creators of this show do want to keep it away from MCU.

I have not watched the show since I do not like Disney superhero animations but the hype this cartoon gets is hilarious and downright bizarre and I say this as a fan of the X-men, who does not really have a big interest in the series since I have never once enjoyed any Disney animation.

MCU is meant to be finished but a 90s nostalgic reboot cartoon is now what is saving Marvel. Anyone care to explain the bizarre state Marvel is in. In 2024, we are only suppose to like a 90s reboot tv show from Marvel now.

To those who are watching this show X-Men 97, is it any good? like DC animation good?

Yes X-Men '97 is that good. It's the only thing Marvel related I'm really looking forward to. Well that and Deadpool & Wolverine. Cautiously optimistic about Blade and Captain America 4.

I thought Blade was put on hold?

Supposedly they're going to start filming in Mexico this summer with a "stripped down" approach (simply Blade hunting vampires). I thought the Blade thread had already updated this, but...guess not.

X-Men 97 has done more for the X-Men than 24 years of Fox movies.

So yes, it is that damn good.

MCU's biggest problem was trying to pave its own way. The biggest successes sprang from the source material. They didn't have to slavishly follow it, but they made too many decisions early on that ignore key characters and storylines -- just to get to Thanos. They can't really go back and feel in the pieces. Eternals was never a success in the comic books, yet they felt they could make it a successful movie?

This is just not true at all and a little silly on one hand you have movies that made the xmen mainstream on the other you have a D+ show although popular hasn't been seen by half the people who have seen the movies.

    Wikipedia.

It's marvel animation not disney animation.
    X-Men '97
It is a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997), continuing the story of the X-Men who face new challenges following the loss of their leader, Professor X. X-Men '97 is produced by Marvel Studios Animation, with DeMayo as head writer for the first two seasons and Jake Castorena as supervising director.
    Marvel Studios Animation
Marvel Studios Animation (also known as Marvel Animation) is a division of American production company Marvel Studios centered on development of its animated projects based on Marvel Comics. The division was created by Marvel Studios and mainly produces projects set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and also oversees the development of non-MCU animated projects.

Since 2021, Marvel Studios Animation has released three projects – the series What If...? and X-Men '97, and the shorts I Am Groot – with three more in development. Additionally, they took over production of the Disney Junior series Spidey and His Amazing Friends starting with its second season. The division outsources animation to other studios for each project.

Marvel and Star wars for example is not created or made by Disney.
It's not made by Disney studios.
Disney funds, distribute and do merchandising for star wars and marvel, that's it.
When you see a star wars movie or mcu marvel movie for example you don't see the disney logo in front.

X-Men ‘97 has corny soap elements, and the characters go from sublime highs -like Gambit cooking in a ridiculous crop top - to dreadful lows that actually feel impactful. It’s fun and engaging.

The last two MCU films were just interchangeable quipping characters going on a no-stakes adventure that no-one seems to take at all seriously. Which is what the naysayers claimed it was all along - they need to do better.

Man, they are on a crazy run of great films.

I saw the TV horror spoof thing and it was fantastic.

They can't keep this pace up for 10 years!

    It's going to happen.

Blumhouse used to be the gold standard for lower-budget horror movies.

Now, everyone is dunking on them (although Blumhouse have been churning out some very odd films lately).

Gambit and Magneto's animation are awful. Magneto looks like a zombie and Gambit like a kid. the characters look smaller than their 90s version.

Overall the animation does not impress me. It looks too childish. This is what turned me off. I wish they had adapted more of the X-Men Evolution look but with a 2024 update. I do not enjoy every DC cartoon but I find DC animations impressive enough to make me sit through it till the end.
