This is a question I've asked since I was a kid, along side many others that don't seem to have an answer. What's the purpose for the watcher keeping an eye on current events and chronicling everything? I thought this was going to be explained in Original Sin but I don't think it was.

They inform other Watcher of other dimensions of what dangers that could arise.

Sam found the answer... The Watcher searches for the one time (across Multi-Dimensions) where his father's (IKOR) plan worked. But to no avail... the plan to help the Prosilicans fails every time. The simple answer to the why is... a Son's hope, pride and love for his father. This is the very thing that ties the two together (Sam and Uatu). Well this is how I see it anyway, in my view an awesome story.
