You might want to check out Al Ewing's Mighty Avengers too.

It's probably the best written and most coherent team based book Marvel's publishing presently.

Excellent characterization across the board and Ewing's obvious respect for established 616 MU continuity make this book a true gem.

    Hey guys.
I've renewed my Marvel Unlimited account and I'm looking for new runs/stories to read. I've read almost all big runs so I'm mostly looking for the more underrated comics. Thanks!

    Hey guys,

Pretty new to the comic scene, but not entirely new to the universe.

When I was younger I used to collect X-Men cards and use to watch the shows so I know a few of the characters, favourite always being Gambit.

Last week I took the plunge into comic book world and picked up a copy of X-Men: Schism (and plan to grab Regenesis). It was recommended to me as an easy read due to not being familiar with any real story arc. Also grabbed Thor 2014 #1.

I was wondering if someone could help me out in getting back into X-Men, where to start again in order to get me into reading series.

Sorry if I've been a little vague or light on information, just let me know what I need to provide in order to make anyone's job easier in suggesting something for me

    Thanks!

Well, there is Superior Foes of Spider-man. A comedy book about inept minor supervillains.

My all time favorite Scarlet Spider (2012). If you like Houston, craziness, antiheroes played both seriously and for parody AND cheerful new heroes, talking werewolves, the 90's (or if you hate the 90's, but would like to see someone try to successfully redeem some pieces of that era), extreme Parker Luck and someone who hates being a hero, I recommend it for you. Specially issue 16.

Exiles, though somewhat old, was excellent until the last Proteus issue.

The first two volumes of Runaways are a must if you haven't read it.

I wouldn't say it's underrated, but the recent Hawkeye series by Fraction and Aja that is about to end is pretty great. And if you dig that , the same creative team did a book called The Immortal Iron Fist a few years ago, which was also solid.

SHIELD by Jonathan Hickman and Dustin Weaver is due to finally wrap up. The final two issues have been delayed for a couple of years, but they will be coming out soon. I think that all the previous issues would be available.

I haven't read X-Men regularly in a while for a few reasons, but the last time I feel it was a must read was Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's Astonishing X-Men series. It's about 26 total issues, and is probably the last time the book had a classic feel to it.

There have been runs that followed that many have held in high regard, but for me, that was when the book was firing on all cylinders.

I've read Runaways and Exiles (and I'm supporting Superior foes of spider-man in floppies since day 1, check my signature) but thanks for the recommendations. I will definitely check out Scarlet Spider, thanks!

Already read Hawkeye and Immortal Iron Fist (wasn't a fan of Hawkeye and Immortal Iron Fist was pretty good. Not a big Fraction fan). Coincidently, SHIELD is the serie I'm reading right now. I'm now at #2 of vol 2, pretty good stuff (though nothing beats East of west and Secret Warriors when it comes to Hickman). Thanks!

    Default New Marvel Reader!

I have basic knowledge of the Marvel universe, I just haven't read any Marvel comics. Where would be the best place to startreading and not be completely confused. X-Men?, Avengers?, Deadpool?, Spiderman? Someone lend me a hand!

There is a brand new event called Original Sin that starts next week, and will deal with secrets from some of the main Marvel characters' pasts. There is an issue 0 that came
out last week that acts as a primer for the series. Amazing Spider-Man just retarted at #1 this week, and there are many titles that are in single digits after being revamped
recently. The longest running series now is from 2012, and back issues are cheap and plentiful. You can pick up the most recent issue of any title and work your way back pretty
easily if you like what you read.

What do you like? Every book has a different theme/genre. What do you like?

Lots of action, but it needs to have a good story line. As of now I'm reading Batman, Justice League, Walking Dead, and a lot of Mangas.

Thor god of thunder, Uncanny Avengers and X-Force. I think you'll like those

Elektra just started, and should have tons of action and an interesting story. Right now it doesn't have a lot of ties to the larger MU, and should be very new reader friendly.

Plus the art is absolutely fantastic.

For the X-Men, I recommend starting with Grant Morrison's New X-Men series. After that, read Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, then jump on to Uncanny X-Men starting with the Messiah Complex crossover. That'll take you all the way from 2002 to the present day, and there's some great stories in there.

For the Avengers, I'd start you out with a couple good self-contained Avengers stories, Avengers: Endless Wartime and Avengers Assemble: Science Bros., to get you a bit familiar with what the Avengers team looks like in the comics. Then I'd give you the beginning of Jonathan Hickman's current Avengers series, Avengers vol. 1: Avengers World, and tell you to keep reading forward from there.

For Deadpool, I'd give you Deadpool Classic vol. 1, and tell you that when you run out of Deadpool Classic collections to read, start reading Cable and Deadpool. That's some good stuff.

For Spider-Man, I'd give you the beginning of Dan Slott's current run on Spider-Man, [Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time](http://amzn.com/0785146245), and tell you to read forward from there.
