Agreed. If Marvel isn't going to give us a West Coast Avengers (I understand the argument that "Avengers should be global," but then why halt that global presence to a single team/collection of characters), then they really should give us a big team on the west coast with some legit big characters who will ensure the book remains a regular fixture (and isn't a situation like the X-Men hiding out on their own island in San Fran or anything like that). I'm pretty sick and tired of Marvel's NYC fetish.

Eh, why not! A poor man’s Avengers based on the original line up.
No Cap but you get, CITIZEN V.
The John Watkins III version. Carrying on the family tradition. He’s the seventh CV, and looking to erase the damage Zemo did to his legacy.
No Thor but you get, ARKON.
A haughty other dimensional warrior King w. a quiver full of lightning bolts. He’s all about testing himself in battle and then getting his feast on.
No Iron Man but you get, DETROIT STEEL.
The Doug Johnson III version. Ex Military working in the private sector. He’s got more in common w. James Rhodes Than Tony in terms of skill set.
No Hulk but you get, GEN. MAVERICK.
I actually DO like this guy. The bike shorts though, are easy to make fun of. Hulk was replaced by Cap on The Avengers, but I’m keeping both Maverick and Citizen V on this team.
No Hank Pym but you get, THE HORNET.
The Hobie Brown version. Brown’s got science know how, and like Hank, has had a few different identities. There have also been other Hornets so it’s nice and confusing.
No Wasp but you get, THE RED LOCUST.
A happy go lucky young woman w. a lotta heart. Like The Wasp she’s the youngest, but is still going to end up being only sane person and team mom.
Always love playing with quirky Avengers line-ups, especially when they bring in characters who've never been on the team before, I had an idea for a storyline involving a war between the various Elders of the Universe. Since the Avengers have constantly played a role in disrupting the Elders' plans, a plan is conceived of to remove anyone ever having called themselves Avengers from the playing field...a bit like the Collector getting them all back in the day, but on a much grander scale involving folks like the Grandmaster, the Champion, the Gardner, etc.
With every known Avenger off the board, a new team assembles to locate and rescue the lost members, as well as take the fight the Elders as well, to end their potentially catastrophic war. Pulled from various corners of the (remaining) Marvel Universe, this new team is:
Attachment 139831
Polaris - With a number of X-Men missing as a result of this, Polaris becomes the mutant representative to locate her people and bring them home. The magnitude of her power and experience in intergalactic travel makes her an ideal candidate. She also finds herself in a leadership position, though it's tenuous as she struggles to hold the various personalities together.
Gladiator - The team brick and the member with the foremost knowledge of the greater universe and the Elders themselves. While the Shi'ar have little to do with the Avengers, minus the inclusion of Smasher and her husband Cannonball in their previous ranks, the consequences of an Elder war would definitely impact the Empire. Because of this, Gladiator is dispatched to aid with the Avengers' return and finds himself a member of the new line-up.
American Eagle - Every team needs the scrappier, low-powered, street-level character to walk amongst the gods and keep them grounded and here, American Eagle fits the bill. While he's never had much drive to join the team, preferring to do things on his own, his experiences with Black Panther and Wasp while on the Agents of Wakanda (as well as Ben Grimm from back in the day) make him feel duty-bound to free them. Plus, it's the ordinary people Eagle relates to that will suffer the most in a skirmish like this.
Sasquatch - With so many of the world's greatest minds taken with the Avengers, it falls on Sasquatch to take the mantle usually helmed by an Iron Man or Hank Pym. While Alpha's members haven't really jumped to being Avengers, Madame Web and US Agent did join him for Omega Flight back in the day, and Sasquatch is beholden to his former teammates. And on a personal note, there's no telling what impact the Elder war could have on the realm of the Great Beasts, and by extension Sasquatch's own being.
Sepulchre - Not knowing what to expect when going after the Elders, the team is looking for any kind of unique power source to arm themselves. That's where Sepulchre comes in, recruited personally by American Eagle to lend her Darkforce energy to the cause. Even though her ties to the Avengers are very tenuous, with only Dr. Druid having really interacted with her (and let's face it, he's a bit of a dick), she reluctantly agrees to leave retirement and join the team, at least to get the other members back.
Morbius - The true team wildcard, the anti-hero who agrees to join for reasons known only to him. Perhaps he feels like he owes it to Spider-Man and his associates, whom have always attempted to help him with his condition. Or maybe, with all biological resources having failed, the actual cure for him lies among the stars...someplace he's never ventured before now.
Makkari - With her leader Starfox, missing, as well as celebrated Avenger Sersi, Makkari opts to lend her speed and long-lived history of cosmic elements to the cause, before the power vacuum in Eternals' society leads to in-fighting, if not something worse.
^^^I tell you man, that’s an Avengers team. A bunch of very different characters coming together to get the job done. Total upvote!
An alternate history Kooky Quartet, where after Goliath, Wasp, Iron Man and Thor all leave, Cap winds up seeking help from reclusive Magician Dr. Strange after Simon Williams the Wonderman seemingly comes back from the dead (way before Avengers 131).
After that adventure Cap provides Simon a place to stay and asks Dr. Strange to join the Avengers. And who can say no to Cap?
Cap rounds out the team by recruiting…a Russian spy. The barely reformed Black Widow points out the irony in that, even as she accepts the offer.
