I think in Cable's case it would be more about not wanting the power to fall into the wrong hands, and thinking it being in his hands is the safest. If you read a lot of Cable stories, you'll find that this is pretty on brand for him. He has a bit of a messiah complex and doesn't trust other people to do the right thing. So naturally he wouldn't want anyone else to possess this Celestial power and responsibility. It's logical if you're into that sort of thing.

Apocalypse has probably killed more people than Hitler, in carrying out his Celestial duty as a force for evolution and change... extreme Darwinism. Remember, he ended the Bronze age in fire and death, apparently so terribly that nothing really survived in terms of historical record. He talks about this in one of Hickman's X-men issues. The one where he's wearing a suit and meeting with United Nations reps.

Yeah, seemed off. A lot of Krakoa seemed very off. I kept thinking at some point it would be revealed that Xavier, or perhaps the island itself, was manipulating them all into acting out of character. Would explain a lot honestly.

Nathan was sent into the future to end his tyranny but somehow they were all pals lmao
Don't get me started... that scene of Kid Cable just chilling with Apocalypse and his wife at dinner during X of Swords was ridiculous. About as weird as Logan just hanging out with Gorgon on Krakoa.

I don't think he'll go that far, as that would be pure Krakoa erasure for a lot of fans. But suggesting they were manipulated into acting out of character wouldn't be a bridge too far. Especially since it's clear that Xavier is Traitor X now, and thus persona non grata in the new era anyway. Might as well reveal that he was kind of manipulating everyone on the island to get along too, which made them act out of character.
Would include things like Logan and Jean screwing and Cyclops seeming to not care about it too. Again, that seemed off to me. It was implied he was seeing Emma too at the time, so open marriage I suppose. But them "trying something new" in this regard seemed out of character, so could chalk that up to psychic manipulation too. Just Charles trying to get everyone to stay and buy into the whole Krakoan experiment, so he was subtly influencing their mood and ergo judgment. Something like that.

Hickman basically turned X-Men into villains. Most characters were acting so horribly out of character that it was hilarious. Scott escorting Apoc to a U.N. summit was the last sraw for me. Bitch he had possessed and corrupted your spirit in the past why are you ok with him giving you orders!
Maybe the Island itself was responsible for everything that happened? If I recall correctly, it was implied to be feeding on the psychic energy of the Krakoans.
Oh Scott was banging Emma too, Zdarsky was leaning into it just like Percy was leaning into Jogan, but they downplayed it after the first year though, with Scott and Jean moving into the treehouse.
And what was that gladiator match thing called? Crucible? The X-Men were definitely acting like a weird death cult
I don’t. Just guessing since he’s apparently not going to be featured in the new era right away. But I suppose it’s possible that he does win, and is off the board for a bit regardless before showing back up.
