Most of the good stuff people found later (Dark City, Big Lebowski, Out of Sight)
March 1999 was when the second TPM trailer was released. Although I think the second trailer was mainly connected to Fox's Wing Commander movie.

The movie was one of the early collaborations between Prinze and Lillard before Scooby-Doo; it was also directed by the same guy who did the games, including the cutscenes where Mark Hammill played the main role in the last two games up to that point and has a cameo. Hugh Quarshie also has a role. And of course Prinze would eventually voice the Jedi lead, Kanan, of REBELS.

Part of the movie's problems was that the production was rushed so it wouldn't have to run against TPM.

This kind of thing might have worked better in the live Maleficent, where Aurora's would-be suitor's kiss didn't work at all but Maleficent kissing her as the mother figure who reluctantly adopted her turned out to be the actual true love.

Also, with a story like Snow White, there's a point where you're changing the original premise enough that it turns people off when they want to see what they consider to be the "real" story or timeless story rather than someone's message of our time that yanks them into the present rather than escapes it. Heck, there's even that conservative group that's doing what they deem the original story by capitalizing on changes Disney seems to imply are in the new version.

Feeling uder the weather so didn't post box office yesterday.

    Here it is late--

    Apes in first with $58m.

These apes are going to need a bigger boat for their cash that is as 20th Century Studios‘ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came in over expectations with a $58.5M opening. Sunday came in at $16.5M, down 19%, a strong attributable to Mother’s Day. Who knew moms were fans of the Planet of the Apes movies? That’s now the third highest opening for an Apes movie after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes ($72.6M) and Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes ($68.5M). Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes only cost $160M, which is cheaper than Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes which cost $190M before P&A. As we said yesterday, there’s hope for summer in a movie that can beat its tracking projections. Not everything is destined to become flat footed.

    1.) Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (20th/Dis) 4,075 theaters, Fri $22.2M, 3-day $52M-$55M/Wk 1

    2.) Fall Guy (Uni) 4,008 (+6) theaters, Fri $3.55M (-66%), 3-day $14.4M (-48%), Total $50.3M/Wk 2

    3.) Challengers (AMZ MGM) 2,609 theaters, Fri $1.6M (-36%), 3-day $5M (-34%)/Total $38.3M/ Wk 3

    4.) Tarot (Sony) 3,104 theaters,Fri $1M (-60%) 3-day $3.2M (-51%)/Total $11.7M Wk 2

    5.) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Leg/WB) 2,531 (-353) theaters, Fri $600K (-43%) 3-day $2.6M (-43%)/Total $191.8M/ Wk 7

    6.) Unsung Hero (LG) 2,272 (-560) theaters,Fri $530K (-39%), 3-day $2.2M (-26%), Total $16.7M/Wk 3

    7.) Kung Fu Panda 4 (Uni) 2,111 (-269) theaters, Fri $400K (-22%), 3-day $2M (-20%), Total $191.1M/Wk 10

    8.) Civil War (A24) 2,204 (-485) theaters, Fri $511K (-47%) 3-day $1.9M (-46%), Total $65.3M/Wk 5

It's a decades old franchise with a good track record and the summer is just starting, what did you expect?

Can you imagine them showing Snow White being revive by someone dislodging the piece of apple from her throat! There would be an uproar...Though they would get a kick out of the "Witch" being forced to dance in Red Hot shoes until she dies...
If people only knew how "Grimm" their fairy tales really are...

It over performed all projections and held 17% almost 18% on a weekend in mid- May which is ridiculously good.

EDIT: the hold was 18, almost 19%!

Please, be careful people. Amc stock is a scam. Adam Aaron, the eco of AMC is not on the side of the investors, at least not on the side of the everyday man. He just cares about his hedgefonds brothers.

Its a dangerous play if you buy AMC stock right now. Its not investing, its gambling. As is Gamestop. Buy and sell fast if you make money, they can rug pull you faster than you can sell.

    That's what I am saying.

Or you do it like me. Buy for 7,50, don't sell at 72, wait for a long time and see it crash. If I had been able to sell (emotionally) I could have bought a car from that money. Now I have losses that resembles the price of a car

Fall guy bombs in china hitting 7th. Apes still in top 5 there and note 2 anime movies in top 10.

In domestic numbers the fosters rip-off IF made $1.75m in previews. Better make what it can as a cartoon cat comes next week whose first screenings has sold out in big cities!

Some early box office results. IF aka fosters rip-off may make $34m. Strangers heading for $11m looks like. Back to black bombing.

No word on valley of the wind or transformers.

We will see in a few hours.

    https://deadline.com/2024/05/box-off...-2-1235920634/

    Edit--Strangers made $12m on a $8m budget.

In japan we have apes, bob marley and kong in top 10 there and haikyuu doing great in second but detective conan is a monster in first and has crushed godzilla, apes and others in its path. It is a crazy hit there! How long will it stay first?
