Thought on the season finale of X-Men '97 for Jean:
    spoilers:
    Some great moments for Jean:
    - She gets her Phoenix moment, as the intro has been hinting at for so long. It's extremely satisfying to see her neutralize Bastion's control of the Prime Sentinels and burn away all the stolen DNA that Sinister used to mutate himself, leaving him a decrepit old man.
    - She and Scott give a telepathic goodbye to Nathan, thinking they won't survive their plan to halt Asteroid M's fall. I think some Maddie fans will be upset Jean gets a Mom moment, but unlike the comics, I see animated Jean and Maddie as 2 parts of a whole.
    - She and Scott wake up in the future, greeted by Clan Askani, Mother Askani, and young Nathan. I am truly surprised and delighted we'll actually get to see them adapt The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix.

I swear the original show has conditioned everyone to have low expectations for animated Jean, because I'm always amazed when she's using constantly using her powers without fainting or needing to catch her breath. I'm so glad X-Men '97 established this new normal for her.
    end of spoilers

It greatly improved my opinion of her. I still feel effy about the whole mother relationship with Cable but besides that she way better than in the original cartoon

I guess if you say by inches then I guess she has improved otherwise it was bust as a modern take on Jean. The whole relationship with her 60 year old son as "mommy" was weird. She was mostly swirling with someone's wife or someone's mom or love traingle. Her fight with Bastion and and Sinister was meh. Phoenix only helped her to resurrect and beat Sinister and not even Bastion. Then she faded again and again as usual. Its forgettable but memmable I guess. The show was so rushed I didn't cared characters. Not even my favorite characters Also on Beau books the new episode has become evident Jean is not more powerful than Magneto.

Today’s one of those days I wish I didn’t have to go to work. There’s so much to talk about

    “Mother-me.”

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

Also, X-Men 97 Ep. 10 was sublime. All-in-all, this was a wonderful showing for Jean; one which respected her lore and power.

So this whole time, Jean was Hope's father?

I also loved seeing her in a raptor of water instead of fire, since she emerged from the water.

Glad that Nathan seems to have finally accepted Jean as his mother, especially knowing she'll be raising him with The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. Can't wait to see Rachel and Jean interact and I'm guessing Jean will take the Phoenix codename and costume at Rachel's prodding sometime next season. I feel we'll be seeing Phoenix again in the battle against Apocalypse to vanquish him for good.

Also liked Scott's remark to Logan that he needs to stay alive for Jean's sake.

Some spoiler quotes / warning would not have gone amiss.

It also lowkey confirmed when the Maddie/Jean switch likely happened. spoilers:
Jean being able to turn into Phoenix means that she was Phoenix in season 3, not Madelyne. The season 4 finale is really the only tim that fits for the switch to have occurred

have not gotten book yet I asked in the spoiler post... but is hope dead or reborn in the phoenix? cause if she is reborn in that fiery bird, and came from it, would that not give Jean potential access to her power and as such ALL MUTANT POWERS?!?!?!
In the real world i would be BOTH pro registration and Pro mutant rights. Xavier and Trask were both right.

Sometimes it feels like off panel Hope channeling the PF, Wanda, Doc Strange and Galactus all did a ritual with the infinity gems and the incantations was "NO MORE CHARACTER GROWTH!"

I wouldn't say Jean using Phoenix powers in Episode 10 confirms she was Phoenix in season 3.

I mean, Jean was able to connect with Phoenix this time because she wanted to save Cable (who she is calling her son now).

“I must feed!”……..I wonder where they’ll dine. Also, why they can’t help the mutants in the WHR.

Or it could be that spoilers:
a Phoenix fragment remained with her, which i think is the most plausible explanation. She's been talking about a burning inside her as her powers have been expanding this season. To me its been hinting that she's had a piece of the Phoenix the whole time and she didnt just connect with it now in the finale
end of spoilers. Go back to that scene with Wolverine at the lake. Its pretty obvious there and that also references the end of X2 and Classic X-men 18

I gotta be more careful with my wishes.

    spoilers:
Both Jean Grey AND Captain Universe showed up in the DOOM one-shot...only to get killed by Galactus. Thankfully it's just a WHAT IF?
