Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

From when I watched them in the 60s? Or favorites when I see them now in reruns?

    Star Trek.
Flintstones (Yes they were a Primetime Show).
    Twilight Zone.
    Bewitched.
    Munsters.
    Addams Family.
    The Fugitive.
    Land of Giants.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
    Rifleman.
    I Dream of Jeannie.
    McHale's Navy.
    Wild Wild West.
    Batman.
    Ironside.
    Invaders.
    Mod Squad.

    Shows with Caveats
Black and White episodes of Wagon Train (Mostly Due to them being the Ward Bond episodes), Burke's Law before it went into the spy genre, Season One of Lost in Space (Before it became Silly), and 1st 2 Seasons of the Beverly Hillbillies and Gilligan's Island (The Concepts wore thin on me as the shows went on).

Lastly, I like Bonanza and Gunsmoke but not enough to list them as favorites.

I'm old enough to recall a few of those when they were airing in the 60s, but most of my memories are from the shows that aired up through the early 70s. I have a faint memory of seeing one episode of Star Trek when it was in primetime. My parents weren't big on sci-fi, so it was probably on after something else they watched. You didn't mention it, but I was intrigued by the opening to 'The Saint' with it's spooky music and stick figure version of the lead character. That's about as much as I recall -- didn't realize it starred Roger Moore -- who was the James Bond of my youth.

Your top 10 is pretty good, but I never warmed up to Andy Griffith or Gomer Pyle.

    My favorites are likely:

    1. Star Trek
    2. Batman
    3. Bewitched
    4. I Dream of Genie
    5. Gilligan's Island
    5. The Munsters
    6. Twilight Zone
    7. Petticoat Junction
    8. Get Smart (loved the ending sequence with him exiting through the sliding walls)
    9. Beverly Hillbillies
    10. Land of the Giants

Brady Bunch debuted 1969, but I think of it was a 1970s series -- definitely one of my favorites.

As a 60s kid, this might be too hard.
In the meantime, here are a couple of videos I did of favorite shows with themes that change the tone of the opening.
    First Giiligan, The Next Generation
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

TOS, naturally. However, I'm a big Perry Mason fan, even tho that one launched in the late 50s.
