I also wonder what percentage of this book's readers are actually just buying it for the covers.

With the reveal about the scribe, I think we are safe. Even though, I have fond memories of that quirky era and the really interesting combination of pencils, inks, and colors in the visual presentation, learning of the writer's ...criminality kind of chills one's enthusiasm.

Oh, that was what's his name? Yeah, I think that would be flushed pretty quickly.

Lest the wrong Power Girl related writer be inadvertently associated with infamy (granted not many creatives handled Scarabas/Equinox):
Gerard Jones was arrested in 2016 for child pornography charges.

That Kenner Super Powers figure cover looks ripped straight from the Kerry Gammil series cover era.


The suggestion of Sydney Sweeney as Power Girl tracks with my concept of Jeri Ryan as Power Woman. I can see them playing Kara/Karen at different ages.

Would people be complaining about this book so much if it was a Supergirl book instead of a Power Girl one?

Writing Supergirl the same way Power Girl was written? um... yeah... it sucks. It would still suck.

Mindful of that question, this page from the SUPERGIRL thread feels more like Power Girl Kara rather than Supergirl Kara

Karen Starr is listed as an alias instead of Paige on the back of the cover. Perhaps I’ll pick this cover up.

Yeah, that's an odd choice since that's not the version in the comics anymore and most of the Super Powers line had ended by the time they made that canon. And that "Fist of Fate" vehicle looks awesome!

Not odd at all. The idea is that this is a new wave of figures after the ones actually made back in the day. So it doesn't matter if the Atlantean origin change had only just happened in the comics when the line ended - that's what they would've used at the time. That's also why she's Karen Starr there.

I think what they were going for is something along the lines of "What would it have looked like if the Super Powers line had continued?" Which, if it had gone into something like 1987 or 88, they might do something like this. It's funny to note that the Cyborg figure is now worth a LOT of money because he was one of the last figures produced in the real world. Yet the package shows a vehicle for him suggesting in this alternate timeline or whatever that he got enough figures produced to warrant his own vehicle.

Right, but I keep associating the two, and it makes my brain wonder about what ifs....

I have a question for older posters. Mods, tell me if this needs to move.

So I REALLY got into this character through what I learned were Post Crisis fare, primarily her League adventures. It has been so long since current publications have produced any comics with her that I enjoyed.

My question is, do you ever ...I guess grow past the comics/characters/hobby? I am wondering whether it is my folly for essentially trying to fit a square peg through a triangular hole. This is doubly true with the Amazon and the League for me.

That's where I'm at, though I still retain hope that a new writer will come on board, along with a new editor, and fix things, turning them back to what they were prior to Flushpoint, which initially ruined her.
