Many good choices. I went with three we so the bodies of: Dazzler(pestilence), Shaw(famine) and Callisto(war).

Would have maybe liked better 3 that got vaporized by the sentinel: Banshee (war), Marrow(famine) and Madelyne(pestilence).

They could also go with the three MIA: Wolverine (war), Storm (famine) and Morph (pestilence)

Maddie had her heel turn moment; her story is done. Ditto with Morph; he spent a lot time already as an antagonist and frenemy before coming back. I'd leave those two off the list.

I'm still convinced Gambit will be Death and Wolverine will be War. Banshee if you need another resurrected mutant. And of course, Angel is MIA/presumed dead, he might be another possibility.

So we have Gambit as Death already

could have Dazzler borrow Sunfire's stint as Famine. Letting her light make people hungry would be workable.

Banshee could borrow from Polaris as Pestilence. Letting him infect people just by screaming at them would be neat.

Which leaves War.... and I chose Tommy. given what happened... Tommy would want it. Offensively using the 2-d shifting thing.,... oooh... that could be fun. Oh also blood-rage aura, to make enemies think... poorly.

Well.. look at the (in publication order) first Horsemen.

Angel: recruited because he'd been brutally maimed and left for dead.
Abraham Keiros: crippled and had no hope that medicine would cure his ailments.
Autumn Rolfson was a bullied kid whose neighbors hated her for her detrimental powers.
Plague.... was mauled by Sabretooth in the same incident that left Angel dying.

And Caliban, who was weak and cowardly when Apocalypse took him and enhanced him. Even Wolverine was taken at a time where he was weak, without his unbreakable adamantium skeleton and claws, though he did have to prove himself against an adamantium-ized Sabretooth to win that back. To be fair.

So perhaps En Sabah Nur, while adhering to his "survival of the fittest" dogma, likes to dabble and see how he can make weaker mutants strong in order to sharpen others against them, like blades to a whetstone? Or some shit like that. Ha.
