but in honestly it all up to the writer to decide at this point as there various contradicting origin stories that telling like the current origin is the John Byrne’s The Man of Steel i believe in Williamson run
Secret Origin is the current “canon” origin with elements of Birthright included too. Lex and Clark knew each in Smallville which rules out the Byrne origin, pretty much the only thing not canon from SO is that Clark was a member of the Legion of Superheroes.

Unstoppable Doom Patrol referenced Smallville as the home of Superboy (Clark) so yeah that’s “canon”.

They seem to be moving further and further away from Johns' origin. It's possible that the DP writers were just going off what they assumed was his current origin. Look at what they did to PG. They literally seem to be making it up as they go along.

At this point I don't even remember clearly who is alive in what origin, but I think that in SO Lex didn't have family members who were still alive?

He killed his dad for the life insurance to leave Smallville, and he did have a sister, so I think SO still “fits” minus the Legion stuff.

The fact that we don't know what his origin is is part of the problem with DC right now.

Wonder how different (or similar?) of an origin we’ll get in Absolute…

It took me a minute to realize that's not Diana. I wish DC had an in-house guide for artist to follow.

Things go COSMICALLY wrong as Superman finds himself the champion in a galactic battle between TWO alien empires! The entire EARTH is held hostage as Superman fights to save CONTINENTS from utter destruction! Loads of guest stars, but as you haven’t seen them in a VERY LONG TIME! All this and LOTS MORE in part two of SUPERMAN AND THE CHALLENGE FROM THE STARS! Plus, Lois Lane, Editor-in-Chief, sidelines reporter Clark Kent. Will their marriage survive tough love?

The fact that it's a battle between alien empires is a bit more interesting than it being a straightforward alien invasion. I wonder if one or both will be based on something existing in the DC universe already.

It's interesting that the main story takes place in the past but the backup is in the present. The backup is an interesting concept, though it will probably not have an ongoing impact (it's pretty obvious this won't destroy their marriage, lol, but it would be nice if we get some continuing career or relationship drama of some kind).

I’m guessing it will feature new villains but it would be cool to work a classic Superman villain in somehow (dunno who if anyone would be a good fit).

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Gail's story..but I do have a hard time wondering why PKJ was kicked off Action for a year of seemingly random stories. I could understand the house of braniac tie ins, but I don't get why DC didn't jsut make a all star superman book with a rotating creative team and just let PKJ continue his run. Especially since PKJ kinda teased he's still working with DC and has future plans involving Superman, so there is clearly no bad blood. Do we know if it was related to sales?

Well PKJ also said that there would be some GL crossover and it doesn't look like anything of the sorts is happening.

Looking at the Hal GL solicits seems like the UP are still going to be an issue for a while, especially with the Absolute Power tie-ins prolonging the conflict.

So I'm going to assume if there is a crossover, it will be announced for after the event. Of course War Journal is ending soon so if there is still a crossover and if PKJ is still involved, then they would have to announce a new series of some kind. Of course this is me making a lot assumptions.

Yeah, we don't know if PKJ even has any upcoming DC books.
