The speed, the agility, the precision, and the almost nonchalant way he pulls it off ... this has made Remy immensely more cool than probably any medium he's been portrayed in. I love that they had that Spike Spiegel comparison, too. They're so crazy similar as characters. "Bang, you dead." Would have been a crazy good finishing line too. Though I do agree the one they chose was a better fit being referential to XTAS rather than comics.
OMG! Both are truly Iconic (IMHO):

I would have liked that comic one because it really is so iconic. Maybe we can see him use that when he returns.

Sounds like a good idea, maybe have Remy & Logan get into some sort of brutal altercation.
Then at the end, Remy utters his iconic line (the one from the comics, of course... ):

Castorena speaks with a lot of love for Gambit and also has a bust & a figurine of him in the background bookshelf during this interview you can spy.
Rogue: "It's alright Kurt, he'll light up again soon, you'll see!"

Oof! that line would've been heart-wrenching if they went through with that. It obviously linked with "you light up everything you touch".

But I think "Sugah, I can't feel you" resonated with many.

I would love Lenore talk this sentence, but I think it's less emotional than final version did for the all audiences

But for Romy fans would be amazing!

I think ep 5 ending was perefct and light up again won't have such a huge effect and more confuse people after Gambit just died.

Glad that they tried different choices to find the best one.

Also glad that they understand how similar are Gambit and Spike from CB.

So, we may have a little Rogue and Gambit to come in the next few weeks. We know they'll be in the wedding special, and I hope we get to see what they've been doing in X-Men #35, since it has a story by Simone.

So, if you had one Romy wish for Uncanny, what would it be? Mine would be that I want to see them interacting more with Gambit's family and his contacts down in New Orleans. I always enjoyed those moments in MMX. I also just want random beautiful panels or splash pages of them kissing or cuddling or generally being sexy by Marquez. One of those per issue, please!

God bless Steve Foxe and his dedication to Romy. Why is this better than anything we got between them in the '97 show?

Yay! The X-men '97 comic has been fun so far.

As for Uncanny, I just want a good story, solid writing and no unnecessary angst. I did like X-men '97 a lot, but the entire Rogneto thing just annoyed me. It seemed like part of its purpose was just to tee up more angst for Season 2 via Deathbit (and whatever dark feelings Apocalypse will exploit in him), so I want Uncanny to be a palate cleanser, so to speak, and remind us that the comics are not the cartoon. Also: I want great art, which is what we're going to get from Marquez.

Amen. I definitely do not want relationship drama. I want the X-Men unified against external threats and Gambit and Rogue as a solid duo at the heart of that. I will accept some minor grumbling from Gambit about her being the leader, but only if it is resolved in a fun and sexy way.

These 3 panels made it worth picking up this entire series. Foxe really gets their core appeal. Overall the 97 mini reminds me more of OG XTAS than present 97. It's pretty straightforward and not taking any big swings. But man, this just makes the Rogneto stuff & his death in the cartoon hurt even more. Because THIS scene right here is the type of interaction we need to be seeing. All the sighs. But since we have probably a year to sit on THAT situation and even longer to resolve it, it's better for me not to dwell on it.

Anyway ... yes, let's talk about what we're looking forward to in the near future instead!

Uncanny!!!! Honestly my Romy bar has been set SO low by our Krakoa writers "dream team" overall, that just having them work together and act like they like each other would be a huge improvement! But Gail seems fun and I don't think she seems like a huge fan of the miserable married couple trope? I want to see playful teasing/joking in their banter, battle couple moments, sexy times galore, lots of solid emotional beats and hopefully a few impressive or creative feats in the action sequences. I want LOTS of family dynamics with them and Kurt, especially some BIL bonding.

Oh hey, speaking of things to tide people over ... Rogue & Gambit fanworks week starts June 16th! Feel welcome to participate in any way you want or to just enjoy the fanworks! I think we'll have a big boost of interest this year. Check out the details here on Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/roguegambitwe...6?source=share

Yay, I am psyched for Romy Week. I was glad to have extra time, I did three fanarts! Maybe will have one more. I love the prompts. Except maybe Legacy? That’s maybe more a Rogue fan week than a Gambit/Rogue thing, to me anyway. Dunno, never bothered with that era for the Rogueneto of it all. Had fun with “power swap” tho!

I recommend JUST the Age of X-Man arc of Legacy if you want really good art, really good Gambit and really good Romy. Like it truly was baffling what happened after, but just that section was a great read.

Is this Romy week a Tumblr thing? Just curious.

Yeah, that's where most of the work will be congregated, but participants usually post on their own platforms like AO3 and then link it to tumblr
