[spoil]remember, Johnny is the Thunderbolt, and Shazam mentioned that it his host was corrupted. so it looks like he killed both: he killed Jakeem, covered it up by trapping Johnny/the Thunderbolt for a time, then killed him in this the issue.[/spoil]
Oh, ok! I didn't know Johnny and Yz had become one entity. Thanks!
I'm not worried about that, I know the premise of what I'm reading, I'm disappointed with the creative choice. this is a peek into the future where we get to see these characters in new exciting context, and the best they could come up with these guys were "oh, yeah they got killed by someone off screen, but look at how cool beast boy looks wearing Cyborg. totally rad, right!?" c'mon bruh, they did them dirt.
Jakeem was JUST reintroduced, and they did it with hints of him possibly having a cool new way of using his powers, and it's kinda just wasted here for a twist. like at least pick characters that don't have anything going on. given where they were at the end of TT, Jakeem and Wallace should've at least been around to see how they'd grow and be updated; not pretty much unchanged and killed off. feels like a waste opportunity.
I’m happy about the Powerhouse code name, but the handling of All black males characters have been extremely shitty to say the least. Batgirl should be given a another/more creative code name imo but it is what it is..

Same mess happened to Hotspot-he popped up in Sideways so the villain could bash the Titans. Then he was killed in Heroes in Crisis and was made a joke. He wanted folks to remember him and SUPERMAN said he never heard of him. Mind you Hotspot's first appearance-well preview was IN a Superman book.

To be fair, he wasn’t worse off than his teammate Risk.

Nubia came out.
Has anyone read it yet?

I did, I was pretty good. iunno if it'll be in my top 5 out of Future State (I gotta make a ranking list eventually) but I really dug it. Nubia was written well as a protagonist and I really dug the uban fantasy/American Gods feels to the story; plus I love when african gods are used. it was solid, one of the titles I wish was full series or at least a couple issues longer to unpack a little more.

Man Hotspot feels like he would be such a cool character.
so what's the minority report on black characters in Future State?
we have Vixen & Powerhouse in Shazam!
Nubia in Immortal Wonder Woman
John Stewart in Green Lanterns
Batman and Jo Mullein in Justice League
we got the entire Fox Family in Next Batman
Signal and Black Lightning in Outsiders
Guardian & Mister Miracle in Superman
Jackson Hyde in Aquaman
i miss anyone? pretty good batch of Black characters. personally would've liked to see at least one black female headlining a title (and my boy Mr Terrific is missing :() but there are only many slots you can alott in two months. we at least got 3 black led titles, with 2 being titular, so that's pretty dope.
Old:
Vixen
Power Girl/Powerhouse
Nubia
John Stewart
Jo Mullein
Fox Family
Duke
Black Lightning
Jackson
Guardian
Mister Miracle
New:
Bratgirl
Bolt
Black Racer
Present (the books that will come out):
Fox Family
John
Jo
Bratgirl
Bolt
The increase/usage of black female characters is pleasing to me.

Under the right folks he could have been.
Especially if he was at Marvel with Miles. Have him at Miles's school-just need an Iceman type character and you could have Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.

The original Olympian was male. The Golden Fleece gives the wearer the powers of the 50 are so Argonauts of Greek myth. Powers include Hercules' strength, flight, speed, vision powers ect. This one may be a daughter of the original.
