rugal bernstein (KOF) vs captain america (MCU)
If Steve has Mjolnir, he wins. If he doesn't Rugal wins.
Unless Rugal is played by Ray Park, who, while entertaining by a certain metric, loses pretty badly.
Rugal just throws a tornado at Cap and calls it a day or something
...that's Goenitz or maybe Krizalid, but not Rugal.
Oh, damn I knew tha— *gets blown away with Koko desuka*
Yeah, this is a huge mismatch. Cap gets utterly wrecked here, Rugal wonders where the real opposition has went.

Not canon but still fun. :p
I rather like that Rugal craps all over everyone in that movie, and it's Athena who messes up his Dark Barrier. Then it takes everyone to put him down the first time.
Predictably, Omega Rugal then craps over everyone at once. Which is fine as well.
However, then Kyo does the typical shonen anime thing thing of 'Well, this guy is completely on another level compared to me, he was utterly destroying me through the entire fight while casually toying with me, and I'm, you know, badly injured now and likely low on power, but I'm going to think about the things that matter to me and suddenly kick his ass. Despite the fact that he was ruining everyone in the room seconds ago.'
Ugh.

Power of love and friendship, Sharpy. No plot device is as powerful.

well depends on the anime.

I'm so TIRED of that trope... ^_^ There could be ways of doing it that I would approve of, but the whole 'Person is utterly destroying me and my friends simultaneously, badly hurts me, and does so casually, and then I get a powerup that allows me to kick his ass AFTER all of that because *I won't lose* or *Mah Friends* or...' is just...too much for me.
Bleah.

I personally can’t think of any shounen anime that didn’t incorporate this at least once.
And I know Yugi oh routinely does it like every card game.

some are more guilty of it than others. (looking at you, fairy tail)
and it depends on the series of yugioh. 5Ds more or less revolved around combos as opposed to singular cards. yusei's flowchart for instance.
