Agreed, but at the same time they’re in a phase where they’re expanding and doubling down on one of the main appeals of the MCU, which is major characters interacting with each other. You don’t get that with the DCEU and that’s one of the big reasons they’ll never catch up, Doctor Strange went from being a guy lukewarmly received in his debut movie (saved only by top tier visual effects) to one of the most anticipated characters in the MCU after he got to pal around with Iron Man.
Thor didn’t come into his own until after they turned his film into a buddy cop project with the Hulk and played up the comedy. The MCU is evolving into throwing all the action figures together and going bigger with every project, which makes it so Namor has a lot more viability than Achebe who will probably get relegated to D+. The only MAJOR BP story arc with a scale and crossover potential that even rivals the BP-Namor rivalry of Hickman’s New Avengers is the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, Sturm Und Drang or Doomwar lol.
Heroes interacting with each other is one of the main draws to me. I like seeing team-ups in the sequels after the main hero is established. It's not quite the same here, but it's still something we'll see in all the other upcoming sequels

Atlantis vs Wakanda should be an event film where world powers piss their pants IMHO.
Hell, Atlantis getting pissed and flooding shit should be an event. It is Namor's MO anyway lol
Not a random sequel with no build up.
plus... the major character is dead lol.
And... Namor has no history in the MCU so it doesn't really fit the hulk or dr strange example IMO. Namor will just be Aquaman with feet wings to the general public lol. Dude barely has fans in the comics.
now you wanna give me a T'challa hangs out with Luke Cage in NYC? Sign me up lol

BP2 definitely has the potential to be the MCU’s Dawn of Justice. It has a similar setup in that you got a lightly explored character from the first film going up against a completely different “anti-hero” who’s suddenly injected into the story with the likely goal of setting up other major storylines in the cinematic universe. Lots of potential to mess that up even if your original lead wasn’t written out of the script lol.
I’m just saying using Namor fits with the current trend of going bigger with every sequel and trying to play up connections to the wider MU. But I’d be perfectly fine with Namor not appearing in the BP movies at all and if that was the plan I’d have appreciated more setup.

If the rumors are true, then I'm cheering for Namor to flood Wakanda while shouting "Imperious Rex" lol.
Especially considering what MCU film is coming out next month.
Exactly.
Plus of there is one thing BP did, it's show that it doesn't really need to tie into the rest of the MCU to gather a following or draw people in. Plus I guarantee you this. That if T'Challa is missing for the sequel and the 3rd gets hyped ad T'Challas return with a new recast the hype level will be there for sure.

Im good with it taking place during the blip because of Boseman's death.
However, I feel like films taking place in the "past" robs the current film of its urgency. Only reason it worked in BP for me cause I legit forgot about those other Marvel films, lol (also I think GOTG2 was still in the past, Thor 3 was on another planet and Homecoming was forgettable)
1st BP had me wondering even if T'Challa wins what if a few Wakandan weapons still got out. This is where being the film before IW robs it of its full potential. Imagine the world was currently under attack and T'Challa has to go retrieve/stop the weapons in the U.S.
However, they needed to streamline things for IW *cough Wakanda as a 3rd act destruction scene*

Taking place during the blip is the only way I’ll give this movie a chance, because if that happens then that means T’Challas “death” will ultimately be undone just in time for the final battle with Thanos.

Saw this elsewhere

I love the idea, just curious about the geographical logistics of an African Kingdom in war with a South American Kingdom
That is fair considering Wakanda seems more East Africa.

I’ve been saying for years that Wakanda having beef with Atlantis in the MCU would make little sense because Wakanda is completely landlocked in this universe and is nowhere near the Atlantic Ocean for that matter.
