While we're still waiting for Black Beetle: Necrologue, there is a current Black Beetle feature going on in Dark Horse Presents — “Kara Bocek”!

And in March of 2017, Marvel will be putting out a new collection of stories with the Marvel UK character Night Raven.

Night Raven is so boss. An absolutely messed up and thrilling character.

And if anybody remembers the Prowler comics published by Eclipse back in the 1980s, they've been collected more recently in a couple of trade paperbacks.

"The Fade Out" - thanks for this. I'm a big fan of Criminal and Velvet - this had passed me by.
. . . Dark Horse had the Grendel vs Shadow book they did with Dynamite recently. (An excellent read if you didn't buy it.)
A hardcover collection of Grendel vs Shadow was released last year, but I'm not aware of any trade paperback version yet.

Anything by 'Matt Wagner' and with 'Year One' in the title is a great choice.
And Sandman Mystery Theatre, from DC Comics, which basically established and set the tone of his pulp style ever since.
Francesco Francavilla is a big fan of the genre and his Black Beetle stuff is really good.
. . . Francesco Francavilla is a big fan of the genre and his Black Beetle stuff is really good.
I'll be looking forward to Francavilla on The Spirit starting next month.
WILL EISNER'S THE SPIRIT: THE CORPSE-MAKERS #1
A series of unexpected disappearances and deaths hit Central City.
Initially these cases seem purely unrelated: no apparent connection between the victims makes it easy for the police to just file them as runaways or natural deaths. But when someone close to Ebony White disappears, The Spirit is on the case!
From the mind of writer/artist & Eisner winner Francesco Francavilla, comes a thrilling tale of The Spirit that promises to tingle your spines.
The Spider: Scavengers of the Slaughtered Sacrifices
published by Vanguard Publications back in 2002.
Since it's by Don Mcgregor and Gene Colan, I'm hoping it will be enjoyable.

I'm re-reading the old Crimson Avenger mini-series from DC (originally published back in 1988!) and keep wishing either DC or somebody else could release a collection of the original Crimson Avenger features that were originally published in Detective Comics (before he gave up the fedora).
