Honestly Carey was better for showing off FEATS, but Grace didn't give Bobby a weird relationship with Mystique so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Was Bobby turning himself into vapor a thing before Grace's run?
In relation to that, issue 5 of the first series was a major gut punch. That issue alone was worth it even if the rest was a major letdown (which It wasn't)
X-men 190
As with ANY solo series, audiences are bound to have uneven reactions. There will be positives and negatives.
I firmly stand by my belief that if the solo had a stronger art team (no disrespect, but certain caliber artists just elevate the books their on in a profound way, and this book could've really benefited from that) we may have had an increase in the "pleased" column.
I appreciated the drama with his parents, the compare/contrast with Bobby and Bitty Bobbers, putting an effort into establishing a solid nemesis for Bobby in Daken, surprisingly the Kitty stuff and of course all the cameos/guests.
However, I didn't find the mentor gig with Michaela(?) all that enjoyable, or the angsty Daken sidekick and I'd have LIKED to see he and Emma develop a mutual appreciation for each other but I also understand that my preferences don't necessarily line up with what is appropriate to the character history. So...yeah.
So overall I'm really pleased with some of it and really not with other parts. I'm glad we got it and I'm hopeful for how it will inform his future.
I agree. Having a more stylized artist would have added to the "cool" or "indie" factor the book needed. I think Emma and Christian would have been reoccurring characters had the series continued. And the new students were a waste. I would rather have had a previously created student been the mentor role; specifically Anole could have conntected it more to Extraordinary and Anole could have reciprocally been helping Iceman with personal life at the same time. I really wanted more Northstar, whether as a friend or love interest. And I wish Beast, Cannonball, Rogue all could have had a bit more roles since they have strong ties to Bobby.
I actually didn't mind Zack when he was informing Bobby's storyline. Bobby coasting when it comes to building relationships with the kids was touched on in a previous short in the Utopia era, and I liked it having actual consequences. The problem was that Zack almost immediately ceased to have any importance to Bobby's story once he went off with Daken. He became a plot device and was of so little importance that he was left for SpitTake to mop up. It would have saved some pages and helped the pacing to narrow down the mentor lessons Bobby was supposed to learn/impart to a single character.

We need more feats, Gerry.
Iceman Specific Marauder Hopes:
- Further buddy-cop relations betwixt he and Bish. I'd love to see Bobbers argue that, with Kitty, Storm and Emma aboard, Bishop isn't the "Head Bish In Charge" lol
- Side Sexing Simon
- Temperature manipulation exploration that isn't exclusively tied to icing things
- EMMA snarking

Let keep this thread up guys! I liked seeing on the main page more often when his solo was out!
I agree.
- More Bishop and Iceman buddy-cops.
- I would like to see he and Emma develop a healthier relationship; one where he can play advocate for her. (I would also like to see Christian Frost have a supporting role in the series).
- I don't want an Iceman x Pyro relationship; however I would be game (if Marvel has the balls) to have them be friends with benefits but no romantic ties.
And as usual I want more Northstar, Cannonball, Beast, Rogue, Anole interaction with Bobby as well.

This is my wishlist plus a good costume.
I would also love more Northstar, Rictor, Iceman hangouts.
Speaking of, what did you all think of Iceman's X-Tremists uniform?

You mean the suspenders? Easily ignored!

I never thought of Bobby as a Nasty Pig gay. In fact, aside from an orientation, I don't think of him having a nuanced, ornamented sexuality.

Worse than just a speedo?

Maybe I'm naive but I didn't think nasty pig. Its less obvious than his speedo.
I liked the uniform. It felt subtle and more in line with the Morrison era uniforms.
The problem with the X-Tremists costume was that it was purposely designed to be , well, problematic. The suspenders and armband are very similar to a particular kind of style favored by white supremacists.
I've said this before, but the Ramos costume has become my favorite look for Bobby.

From Extraordinary and his solo? I think it is too. People seem to hate it though.
