He's gonna be a regular member of JLD.
Etrigan has always been one of my favorite characters! I actually have an Etrigan tattoo on my arm.
Kirby's original run is a classic. Unfortunately he was kind of forced into creating the character when DC unceremoniously cancelled The New Gods and robbed him of finishing his epic. The editors wanted him to create a horror comic so he took inspiration from an old Prince Valiant comic from 1937. Though The King reluctantly created The Demon, he still did some amazing work on the project.

As far as the rhyming goes, I definitely prefer it the way Kirby originally wrote Etrigan. He only rhymes on occasion like when he's transforming. I really don't like it when he's made to do it all the time.

I mean considering what happened with him in Ram V's future state story I assume Etrigan is basically integral to what his plans are for the JLD.
I wish DC/Warners/AT&T/whatever would venture into the horror movie realm. Characters like the Spectre and Etrigan don't have the typical super-hero "vibe" but IMO have the potential to be great theatrical movies. Not necessarily blockbusters but horror movies generally aren't.

The short lived Constantine show on NBC was fantastic because of what you mentioned. To bad it was placed in the time slot of death and never given a fair shake.

Kirby's The Demon was the title that solidified my love of his work. I still remember finding the first issue in a backbin - buying it - and then reading it at a cafe. I was blown away by the opening pages. Have loved the character ever since.
