Shifty didn't do something along the lines of Gruden, that is for sure.
He still made a significant journalistic transgression and hand-waving it away doesn't make it better. Integrity is integrity.
It is common practice to verify facts of a story with sources before you publish in order to be as accurate as possible. Getting quotes exactly right, etc. Sending the full story in advance is unethical.
There are teams that wished Adam had come to them to give them that amount oversight, but he never did.
Speaking of integrity, he has apologized and said the criticism is fair.
I think it will hurt his journalistic integrity in the short turn but in the long run he'll be fine. He acknowledged it, said what he did was wrong, and apologized. The brief ding to his rep will be weathered well as long as this doesn't turn into a long history of ethical lapses.
Schefter is more along the lines of an entertainment journalist rather than a serious news journalist - he's part publicist whether he admits it or not, since most people is the sports or entertainment media are either reporter/publicist hybrids or analysts/specialists of some kind (like a former coach or someone versed in contract law).
Speaking of Urban Meyer, he just stripped Myles Jack of play-calling duties and his leadership roles.
The locker-room leader and fan favorite ... that has to be going over well.
Trade deadline's coming up... methinks Meyer is going to do something stupid like put Jack on the trade block.
Which is probably a good sign he should be fired now.
Of course, Shad Khan might fire Meyer should they go 0-6 and lose to Miami this weekend, giving everything and his treatment of one of the team's best players.
His last e-mail was in 2018. So its right when he got hired by Raiders. It was over a span of years with Gruden.
I was just repeating what they were saying on the Sunday shows, didn't know that one of the emails was after he was hired...

Bucs lead my Eagles 21-7 at the half. Feels more like 28-7, given how poorly the Birds have played on offense. Suffice it to say it hasn't been pretty.

Why don't the Eagles run the ball? The fans want Sanders to get more carries.

My Eagles traded TE Zach Ertz to Arizona for CB Tay Gowan and a fifth round draft pick in 2022. That came out of left field as I didn't see this trade coming. Yo, worstblogever, I need a scouting report! What can you tell me about Gowan?
-
It was rumored that Ertz would have been traded in off season at one point to Kansas City. But that never happened. The Cardinals loading up for their Super Bowl run right now it seems. Getting Ertz for that offense is wild given who they have.

He's a rookie. Raw athletic talent, but a good kid. Wasn't ready to start this year.
The reason to like him... Gowan's draft stock got hurt because he sat out a year of college football due to Covid-19... because he contracted it, and then spread it to his daughter (born at only 2 lbs), his wife, and his mother. No vaccine was available, they were lucky to all survive, but he wasn't going to get it again. When you hear him talk about the love for his family, and that he was glad to get a second chance at football after giving up that year of college to keep them safe...
Hard not to like the guy.

This is a move I saw coming. I thought they'd try to get Ertz or maybe Gesicki from the Dolphins, who are about to have a fire sale at the deadline by most accounts... but once Maxx Williams had that grotesque knee injury, this went from a "maybe at the deadline they'll get a TE" to, "They're ABSOLUTELY getting a TE."
They're lucky Ertz was available and Philly's in rebuild mode. Zack Ertz is already the best tight end the Cardinals have had in the past 30 years the day he walks into the room. I know, low bar to clear, but... he is.

So far I have read that Ertz was offered/attempted a trade for in the last 8 months to the:
- Patriots (price was too high in terms of draft capitol & they got Smith instead, then Henry)
- Chiefs (never heard a why not)
- Colts (at the request of Burton and Wentz)
- Chargers (never heard a why not)
- Bills ("We didn't want him to go to Foxboro.")
- Cards (where he finally ended up.)
In head scratching news, Dallas Goedert is rumored to be trade bait now, too. WTF Philly!? The purpose in trading Ertz was to send the message that Goedert is the man going forward. Unless this is the rumor cycle being slower than the actual news breaking. It WAS rumored last week both were on the block.

According to that news link the Eagles want to make Dallas Goedert the main TE and that he has replaced Ertz more or less. That both will be free agents at end of the season and they plan to go with Goedert now.
