Issue 20 is when I bailed.
I bailed during the hell race arc but decided to give the Starbrand arc a shot. Glad I did as it won me back, plus I just didn't feel right not reading The Avengers.

What are the best ancillary Avengers runs to read? Like Secret Avengers, New etc

Always loved the original West Coast Avengers. Besides that I would go with Ewing's Mighty Avengers.
How much does Busiek's Avengers connect/crossover with his Thunderbolts series?
There's a crossover just after Hawkeye joins the 'Bolts, but otherwise they're unconnected.
Just finished the latest issue and um that's one way to go. On a different note, thanks to Disney plus I'm watching Future Avengers for the first time and so far I am actually enjoying it.

Correct. After he hits the road, Hawkeye has a cameo in Busiek's Avengers #10 (LOVE it) before the Avengers VS. T-Bolts crossover extravaganza in Busiek's Avengers #12 (LOVE it, as well).

I’d also suggest Ewing’s New and U.S. Avengers, Duggan and Zub’s Uncanny. Toss in Waid then Zub’s Champions.
Read No Surrender, and it’s sequel No Road Home.

There's an earlier connection, in that the Avengers appear in THUNDERBOLTS 12, and there's a later crossover with "The Nefaria Protocols," but since Fabes is writing T-BOLTS by then maybe it doesn't count.

Very appreciative for the reminder. I LOVE your run on THUNDERBOLTS, and THUNDERBOLTS #12 is my favorite issue from that same run.
Thank you so much for the response, Mr. Busiek. :D

Absolutely correct about the Nicieza takeover, that's the main reason I didn't include it. Maybe the Moderators can help clarify things a bit. ;)
I really hope Aaron, and maybe the greater MU, could begin introducing more of the New Universe characters to the universe.
Also—we need an amazing Immortus story badly. With this time travel storyline, it’d be pretty awesome to see him pop up as being the mastermind behind this.

When was the last time Immortus popped up? In that digital-only Avengers book by PAD? That Adam Warlock/Kang story?

Idk. Did he pop up in Waid’s Avengers? Or was that just Kang and the Scarlet Centurion? I really should re-read that run, as well as Duggan/Zub’s Uncanny, and Ewing’s New/U.S. runs.
Some classic covers.
