Wooo! And drawn by Stenbeck, no less!
Do you think this is sort of a backdoor pilot for a regular SLC series?
Happy to see they have a good artist for this.

Sounds like Stenbeck doing the wraparounds, Mitten doing the tales being told

That's slightly less exciting

Just bumping the thread up since issue #1 is due out tomorrow . . .
I really enjoyed the anthology series like framing narrative of the Professor, Hellboy and Simon sitting in the pub swapping stories; not only did it give those three some light character moments but it really helped ground the Silver Lantern story in the wider Hellboy Universe which was a great move. The story itself was fun having a nice mix of action, horror and even a little comedy at the end making it feel like a classic Hellboy short...only with out Hellboy. I think the only way this book could be better was if they fully embraced the anthology series structure and allowed exciting new creative teams to tell these stories from the past.

You summed it up perfectly Guardian.
As much as I liked the play on Murders in the Rue Morgue with a giant spider standing in for the ape...I was more interested in the story the professor was trying to tell.
It was fun seeing Grey and Sarah going at the case from different ends.
And the constant interruptions of Brunheim's stories is hilarious.

Yeah, the back and forth with the stories is a lot of fun.
Another fun issue, this time Sarah and Simon team up to confront a creature from William Blake.

Sarah is a bit more flagrant with her sexuality, but that might be just among her close associates.
And Simon, who I now see as Christopher Lee, continues to frustrate Bruttenholm , with comic results.
These are more light-hearted and fun than some other Hellboy series, the art and writing work well together.

It's definitely lighter fare than most but definitely enjoyable.
Issue #4's drunken werewolf hunt was another fun romp. This is not a great series, but i appreciate the light hearted stories. Too often the Hellboyverse is all doom and gloom.
