It might all make more sense down the line, if T'Challa reveals some sort of master plan requiring these exact people.
You guys know by now that "it'll all make sense in the end!" is not a concept I have a lot of faith in. :)
I've just been burned too many times.

Isolated/isolationist societies of Marvel:
Wakanda
Atlantis
Attilan
Utopia
Latveria
Olympia
Deviants
There should have been some kind of major event story revolving around this.

Blame you-know-who. And Ultimates was a big letdown.
But BP's doing work in Avengers and I think AoW will be a pleasant surprise.
People are saying it won't last long but if I can get 10-15 issues with some kickass BP, I'll call it a win.
This could be totally wrong, because I doubt Hickman gives a **** what other writers have done or are saying, but if Wakanda is one of the few nations that didn't cosign on Krakoa, is it possible that Gentle was the fake mutant plant that was hiding with the X-Men that Iron Man was speaking about?
Unless that's been resolved or tossed away of course. But Gentle had the most obvious sap story in X-Men Red, they ate that crap up and took him from Wakanda to Atlantis. Not to mention, why was Black Panther so comfortable with helping Jean and co. after they and Namor destroyed his country?
Gentle could be the Wakandan plant that's either feeding info about Krakoa and the mutants to Black Panther—who's working with Reed to reverse engineer the gates or something—or he could effectively kidnap or kill one of the essential members of The Five, so Krakoa no longer can bring back the mutants who died.
I don't think Wakanda will have a problem with a Mutant Nation, I think it's more just a case that Krakoa won't have leverage on them.

That's what I said. lol.
Guess they want to make it four trade paper backs. Ending on 24 maybe?
Maybe they'll make it a event, but it will be like Secret Invasion. The main book will be average or below, but the side books will be good.
-
They really dragging this tired story out.
The last time Coates had Wakanda go to war, mooks with guns was enough to nearly bring down the Wakanda while the final battle was just a handful of people and the army we were teased with nowhere in sight. I'm not looking forward to see how this played out. I'm guessing like the last seasons someone else will be the key to saving them and not BP.

I can't believe that this isn't over already.
And then they called it "groundbreaking". I'm calling personal foul here for unnecessary fluffness. Loss of down and the writer has been ejected.

Well, Shuri saved Wakanda during No Ones' Man.
Storm saved the day in No Country For Old Gods.
I guess Nakia will save the day in Killer Clowns From Outer Space.
