Thanks!
The article originally said to expect the solicitations tomorrow, but they've had to be bumped back to Monday, I'm afraid.
was hoping for more Frankie
That's awesome news, I loved their take on Frank.
Great news!
Great news!!!
Okay, trick question for you guys: For Dracula, I always loved Roy Thomas and Mike Mignola's comic book adaptation of the Coppola's movie... Now, do you happen to know if any good adaptation exist for Frankenstein in comic book form?
I have the manga by Junji Ito, which is not bad at all, but would also like to read the story in a classic "comic book" version.
I've found this one on Amazon, but I'm not sure that 144 pages is enough to call it a good adaptation:

Bernie Wrightson? It's an illustrated adaptation, but it's amazing.

Depending on how you felt about the Kenneth Branagh version Roy Thomas did a similar adaptation as he did with Dracula.
Yeah, I found out about the movie adaptation yesterday. I really like the movie, and it's my favorite adaptation (along with the 1931 and 1935 movies) even if there is major changes from the novel. I saw the comics #1-4 on eBay and they are not too expensive. I'm really considering it!
I know about the Bernie Wrightson's illustrated book, but very expensive and not really a comic book. I might try to track a copy, and the Frankenstein Alive comics too...
It is not a comic, but the illustrations are outstanding.
Absolutely! I don't own it, but saw enough illustrations of it online to know how much it is well done.
Mignola & cie should really do an adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The story is public domain and I'm sure the comic book would sell!

Looks like we're sort of getting that with the new book
...So, uh, how much is my Bernie Wrightson book worth, then?

As much as someone is willing to pay for it.
There's a preview and an interview here - https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/frankenstein-undone
Spoilers obvs!
The cover of #4 and the trade makes me want to talk about a certain extremely awesome thing, but I'm pretty sure it falls firmly in the major spoilers category.
Give me all your awesome theories
[SPOIL]I don't really have any theories, I'm just freaking out about Sir Edward's mask being on the covers.[/SPOIL]
Ah gotcha, yeah that is very intriguing

Thank you that was a nice preview; can't wait for next week to check it out in full.
Mignolaversity's review. Unfortunately, we won't be doing a debrief column for this series. Everyone's deadlines are too tight at the moment.
This was firing on all cylinders for me, I've been down on Mignola's work of late but this really reminded me that he really is a master storyteller.
My heart goes out for the little polar bear. :( Loving it so far, but damn lay off my heart strings!
I loved the visual parallels being drawn between Frankenstein the man laying in bed suffering to Frankenstein "the monster" laying in bed letting his new friend tend to his wounds while calling himself less than a man.
Read this first issue a little late, but my gosh, it is brilliant. Went and bought a hardcover of the original novel to refresh my brain, because that stuff is important now!
I would kill for a Mignola drawn Frankenstein adaptation.

Maybe someone can talk him into doing a Hellboy Winter Special short story with Frankenstein... *sigh*
Unfortunately, Frankenstein Undone #2 has been bumped back to March 18.

I'm guessing this will bump back the release dates of the remaining issues as well since #3 is currently scheduled for March 25th.

Almost certainly, but for the moment they remain the same.
Yeah, looks like each issue has been bumped back one month with the final issue coming June 17.
I hope everyone picked up Frankenstein Undone #2 today. Comics are back! :D
I had a lot of fun reviewing this one.
While I liked the issue on an artistic level I didn't care for this one as much plot-wise. The visual, subtextual journey from creature to man was well done but the actual journey seemed to lack a real sense of motivation and seemed to happen more as a convenience to quickly get Frankenstein from point A to point B because B is where the story really is than in a natural progression. And the interactions with the crew really highlighted that, here's a giant, misshapen guy in a wolf's pelt wandering out of the frozen wastes and not a single soul recoils in fear? Why isn't there any mistrust? The answer? Because that would slow things down and we wouldn't have gotten to Hyperboria in time for issue three.
I'm really hoping issue three goes back to the beauty of issue one, that first introduction was so perfect in every way which really made the haste of this issue stand out in stark contrast.
Sadly, Frankenstein Undone #3 won't be coming out till September 16.

Man, this book is having some serious production issues
Man, this book is having some serious production issues
There's a pandemic. All comics are having serious production issues.
Lol. Seriously.
I'm just saying it's had a run of bad luck in what seemed like a humorous way.
This may be worth a new thread but I will leave that up to the mods. The Dark Horse website doesn't have any recently released titles from Mignolaverse or Mignola/Goldenverse. I see a schedule beginning in Sept. in the Allie thread but nothing previous is on there. My local shop closed during the initial shutdown so i'm not sure what I've missed. Frankenstein Undone 2 is not there that I can find. What else has been released since the 'reopening' if anything? Lady Baltimore and/ or Return of Effie Kolb?
With only a few scattered exceptions, from April to August Dark Horse is unable to release standard issues due to the pandemic. Virtually all issues have been delayed by six months from their original schedule. Frankenstein Undone and The Last Knight of St. Hagan have been cancelled after Mignola said he would no longer work with Scott Allie.
Cancelled completely, or cancelled solicitations?
