You’re all fooling yourselves if you think you can artists to commit to a rampant lion as an emblem. Davis’ Union Jack from the 80s was a great smart step but even that needed to be simplified to the Captain Marshall in Excalibur.
The lion is a symbol for England, not BRITAIN. Where’s the unicorn?

Fair enough, she's Captain Britain and not Captain British Isles.
But also the Welsh dragon deserves a shout out.

I’m loving Marcus To more and more with each preview. Let’s hope he stays on board for more than just a few issues.

Isn’t the “rampant” lion the symbol of Scotland? I think (and please correct me if I’m wrong) the three lions on the Royal Arms of England are “passant guardant” or something.

For a long time I thought the Royal heraldry elements were a cool symbol to use on the CB costume. Now though, I think it’s terribly unnecessary detail on what should be a streamlined and symmetrical design. Gotta think about the artists that will follow, so put those George Perez proclivities aside and work with recognizable color breaks.
Davis already redesigned the CB super suit in the early 80s, ditching the red with gold lion in favor of the Union Jack inspired design. And then redesigned it AGAIN with Excalibur by the 90s.
The strength of the CB suit was its simplicity. This new costume is overwrought. Full stop.

Was actually used as the original logo of Scottish Television too (the other Scottish ITV region, Grampian, used the saltire flag).
