Ooooh, intriguing. Hard to say if they are opening or closing, but still, definitely Valhalla.

Not being a follower or purchaser of merchandise I would be interested in some examples if you feel like posting about them.

Well, the one I personally own is the Pop figure:

But that one may not be the best example because it was a Collectors Corps exclusive, so there was no choice there in terms of getting it, really.
but there is also the Marvel Legends figure:

(and I have run out of images i can embed to the rest are just links)

Probably others I am not aware of.
Also, not strictly merchandise, but still... I haven't played the game in a while, but she is a costume you can unlock in Marvel Heroes, and it's one I saw around fairly often while I was playing.

Thor (Secret Wars)? That's just plain wrong. She should've been labelled as Thor (All-New, All Different).
-
Yeah, I know, dunno why they labeled it like that. Still cute tho.

Interesting that they felt the need to show her eyes for the cute factor, when the other figures tended towards black eye covers. Not exclusively though - seems there are differences of interpretation.
Dauterman always shows the black eyes as a part of the helmet, and points out that the helmet magically transforms for expression, in a similar way to Spider-Man I guess.
Thanks for the pics.
I think so as well. I just feel that the story, as it has been presented so far, would feel directionless and lack weight if she didn't die. She may end up an Einherjar in Valhalla or a Valkyrie, though.
I think many people are expecting her to die, but I definitely disagree that it would be directionless if she remain dead or a Valkryie and not return as Thor. As a writer, as long as the author (which jason is a great author) has a well thought out plan for the second act, it will have direction.

I have the Pop Funko, the Marvel Legends figure as well as the Marvel 3" figure (I think it's the 3" one), and the Rock Candy figure. I like the Kotobukia one, but can't afford and then there is an amazing premium statue by Sideshow that I wish I could afford by $500 is way to much at this time. But it is brilliant and stunning!!

It is pretty amazing:

Strange that it includes a "swap-out left arm and hand holding Jarnbjorn."
-
Yeah, that is odd - did they mix up the description with an Odinson one?

No there are pictures and everything. Very strange. Maybe at the time Aaron was tempted to have her end up with Jarnbjorn, and gave Sideshow a heads-up, and then decided against it.

It looks great though.
Is that a fish motif in the Celtic knot work? I have never really studied Jarnbjorn before.
-
Or maybe they just got their wires crossed. Oh well.

If it was a swap for the right arm I would imagine it was for people that liked the figure but didn't want a Mjölnir wielding Jane, but it would seem unlikely that anyone would spend that much cash unless they were invested in that concept.
Been looking at the design and really want to know what is depicted on the side of the helmet. Also, it occurs to me the fourfold knot and the cross might represent that Jane is a christian, which is an interesting idea I have never thought of before. Can't find any other depiction of Jarnbjorn with fish knotwork on them, which is a very odd choice of animal for that axe. I think I can see a boar design a partial Mjölnir design and even a possible Loki / horned man.

The detail on this is just amazing! I love the sculpt and texture and all the celtic/norse knot work.
As for Jarnbjorn, as far as I know when reading some things on this at some point, they just wanted to add it for fun. It's a weapon of Thor, yes Odinson, and the sculpters just thought it made the statue look cool with her stance. It's interchangeable so you don't have to use it. But it does look stunning!

Well if you ever procure one, let us see what is on that round panel on the helmet (which no doubt has a technical name).
Oh and October for projected release.

it feels pretty life-like given the intricacy involved in the patterns and the features of the face.
