Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Alfred Pennyworth.
Ben and May Parker.
Proof positive that "mom" or "dad" are always the ones who raised you, and not necessarily the ones who DNAed you.
Greg Universe, for sure: the complete opposite of Toxic Masculinity.
Where do Wonder Woman's mom Hippolyta and Thor's dad Odin fit? More on best parent or worst patent list?

dr. h and dr. k.
both had a hand in chopper's upbringing and they both call him their son.
well to be fair..........goku isn't the worst but he's far from the best. chi-chi, i can give a pass on, due to her wanting gohan not to turn out like goku too much. and she succeed. gohan is a great father. and so is krillin. and vegeta too.
goku's not the worst parent. he's just.........the least good in dragonball.
I didn't say Goku was the worst. I said he isn't good by any means. Chi-Chi wanted(and forced I think?) Gohan to spend most of his time studying since kindergarten. I can't really call her good mother. Her not wanting Gohan to end up like Goku is understandable, but she goes too far in the other extreme.
Vegeta is a great father... by Saiyan standards. He's just fine otherwise.
I'll give you Naruto. But Goku? Sorry, he isn't a good parent in any sense of the word. Neither is Chi-Chi to be fair.
Best parent is probably an strecth, but bad? not at all, hell he is far better than Vegeta who didn't care about Trunks until he saw than the boy was strong enougth to draw blood (he is my favorite characther and he did improve, but c'mon people ), i mean Goku slacked in his own training before Raditz came to earth because he was busy taking care of him, he always tried to protect him everytime that he has gotten into a fight, he has always been respectfull toward his dreams ans aspiration regarding his carreer as a professional, he pretty much was there for all his childhood and Gohan deeply admired him.
Honestly, the only legitimate screw up that Goku did as a parent was in the Cell Games, because he thougth that Gohan has the same battle lust than him and he did realized that (thanks to Piccolo and a tad to late), the other one was staying death for 7 years, but at the time his reasons make sense considering the events from the Saiyans until the Cell saga.
He is not traditional or the best, but far from bad in my book.
Also i should put Krilin too here.

The Carpenters (Dresden Files)
Uncle Iroh and Alfred Pennyworth were fantastic surrogate parents.

Eh, I gave Chi-Chi a large pass because I read the manga and...Yeah, those negative traits of hers are heavily downplayed and outright justified. The anime simply dialed it up a notch.
Like she gets pissed Gohan wants to go to Namek but frankly, she finally gets to see her son who was missing for an entire year being trained by Piccolo prior to his character development. Nevermind learning days...Days later that said son was kidnapped and her husband was killed because nobody bothered to tell her.
Then the deal with the Androids. She finds Goku back home...Only to say he and Gohan have to train to fight Androids that murdered everyone in a bad future. Then she gets plowed through her own house from Goku by accident.
...And guess what, she reluctantly agreed on those decisions. She bitched but the manga just makes me feel a little sad for her because she has to accept those things she has no power against despite how it's her child going out to situations he could die in. Nevermind reset buttons, the death of your own child is going to hurt right in the soul regardless.
Anime Chi-Chi though, I can see the negativity a lot more.
Zuko may call him "uncle" but we all know that Iroh is Zuko's dad in every way that counts. And he is fantastic at it.
I second (third? fourth?) Iroh's inclusion. He was everything Ozai wasn't.

like i said, goku isn't bad. it's just that when compared to the other fathers in DB, he comes up short. especially in super.

still can't watch this without gettting emotional.
will's father comes back into his life after years and years of being away. will, now a grown man, forgives his father for leaving him and wants to connect with him by going on a trip. his uncle phil and aunt viv are against this because of what happened in the past. so the day comes for them to leave but will's father decides to skate on him again and leave without telling will. uncle phil reads him the riot act, basically calling him a **** father. just as he's about to leave, will comes in, ready to go. then that scene happens.
uncle phil may have not been will's father but he fit that role in his life.
to paraphrase yondu, he may have been will's father but he wasn't his daddy.

I thought this might be inspired by the new Ant-Man Wasp movie since Scott Lang has some great moments with Cassie to put him in the running. Also this isn't quite the same but I'd give Ned Stark a nod for being by far one of the best parents in a series where most of the others fall on the worst of list.

Can't believe I didn't think of Alfred. Easily deserves to be on this list.

Agreed on uncle Phil.
And Yondu might not have been the best father figure all of Starlord's life, but dammit if he didn't go out as one hell of a dad.

I forgot that Ben Sisko is actually a pretty damn good father to his son Jake in Deep Space Nine.
...Given that their bond is as strong as his pimphand as he smacks the crap out of his foes.

Not really, but i'm not going to keep this discussion agreed to disagreed.

Hoe could i forget Uncle Phill, he was the best father that Will could ask for and pretty damm funny (althougth the Medieval Tortures rest him some points in my book :p).
