Mary Hamilton is as much Bette Kane as Thea Queen was Mia Dearden.
Mary Hamilton is as much Bette Kane as Thea Queen was Mia Dearden.
Are people comparing TV shows with comic books as to which is "canon" and whether what happens in one version HAS TO always also apply to the other version?

Thanks for sharing Betty's origin again. I never get tired of it and you gotta wonder--
what is so wrong with this being canon? That they have to avoid it, twist, etc and deny it.

They just don't like to admit that Barbara Gordon isn't the original Batgirl.
-
Did it seem like Geoff John’s was giving hints to pair up Tim Drake with Bette during the Titans of Tomorrow arc for his Titans run.
They just don't like to admit that Barbara Gordon isn't the original Batgirl.
I think that when both Barbara as Batgirl and Betty as Bat-Girl were both around again in the 1970s, Betty appeared as Bat-Girl so irregularly that she might have been viewed as more of a part-time hero? Barbara's Batgirl seemed much more active and probably received much more attention in the Earth-1 media than Betty did. (Though Betty may have viewed things a bit differently.)
After CoIE, it seemed Bette (no longer "Betty") had no longer been "Bat-Girl", having now been Flamebird from the beginning. (The post-CoIE version was initially no longer the niece of Kathy Kane, being listed instead as having no known relatives.)
-
And the only reason they didn't retcon her away completely is probably because she'd been in the 1970s Teen Titans (West). Titans was pretty much unaffected by Crisis due to it's popularity, other than Lilith and Donna having their origins voided (caused by Wonder Woman's reboot) and the Bat-Girl to Flamebird change (a result of Batman's continuity changes).

I've never read in full the Ts of Tomorrow arc, but I've seen some panels
These are pre new 52 of course, right? And pre the new Batwoman, right?
So, like Alfred did years before, it imagines or 'is' a future where Bette becomes Batwoman.
Anyone able to print relevant pages or panels?

It's okay to see these 'sorta' Bette Kanes. Like in the Young Justice cartoon. But it only excited me for 20 seconds. Don't remember they did anything much afterwards.
But that means that Bette Kane and/or Flamebird exists to DC as a property, copyright, basically keeps her in the picture, minorly but
I hope and prefer that the Bette Kane of some sense of canon and continuity is the one who will get more screen time someday.
