Then I wouldn't start the wicked and the divine.

Actually .... haha ... I’m going to start the first volume right after I finish vol 2 of Fables which I’ve been blowing through.

Oh, well..... tell us what you think of that one.
Invincible!!! Yeah! Such a good series. Also that Asgard cover looks really nice!
I do enjoy it but I don‘t think it‘s as great as people make it out to be. It‘s not as emotionally engaging and partly lazily written imo. Like I said, I do enjoy it but in comparison I prefer USM.

hmmm yeah great comparison. I think I prefer Invincible but might just be because the art is stronger (although I don't hate Bagley at all). It's been a while since I've read Invincible so I can't really make any proper criticism but it really engaged me. I think people hype it so much because it does what a superhero comic should do but streamlines it and trims off the fat which makes it a better reading experience than your average MArvel or DC series that is based around superheroics. I think your enjoyment depends on your affinity for superhero books.

I enjoyed it as well, but I agree about the writing part. Kirkman phones it in sometimes. Invincible has a lot of highs, but when he's trying to make fun of Marvel/DC, he ends up doing the same thing and kind of falls flat.
While I'm sad to see it end, I have a feeling he'll return to it in the future.

That is exactly what I liked about USM; it didn‘t come with any of the ballast of a whole universe, at least for a very long time. And I agree about the artwork though. I also don‘t hate Bagley, but his art is too manga-y, if you know what I mean (though I also like a lot of manga).

Also, what do you think of those awful non-matching Knightfall jackets?
I know you asked him, but I think DC was lacking in detail when it came to these. It would have been really cool to see all of them match up with one single image across all of the spines. *sigh*

It actually annoyed me, they aren't exactly cheap books and they knew there would be three - think about it DC :P I'd be tempted to invest in some nice custom jackets if the right ones came up.

only problem is Ultimatum and then the end of the Ultimate universe at the end. I wish USM stayed self contained with guest appearances but no crossovers.

True. I mean I didn't mind the odd guest appearance but once Marvel had extended the Ultimate Universe and there kept being crossovers it became somewhat problematic.
Glad to see that you still get to read, even with the little one :P

That is really annoying, yes. Love the Jones artwork, but that they couldn't get the titles to line up is mental.
I love USM, but I love Invincible even more, probably considerably. It just checks off pretty much everything so many people complain about with modern DC and Marvel. Great characters, both main and supporting, with constant growth, relationships, great and fleshed out villians, fun but engaging stories in both short and long term form, great twists and cliffhangers, Allen the Alien, consistently good if not great art, excellent, though often quite violent, battles and fights, etc. Also fantastically produced deluxe hardcovers with great extras with commentary by Kirkman, Ottley, and Walker that's actually fun to read. What's not to love if you like superhero comics, it's got it all.
For good measure, I only read the hardcovers, so no spoilers on how it ends please.

If it wasn't Jones' art, I would get dust jackets for them. But I love his art, even if it doesn't line up.

Ultimate Spider-Man was awesome. It felt like I was reading Spider-Man from the early days again. It's probably Bendis' best work ever.
