20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was first time I remember seeing Kirk Douglas on the big screen when I was a kid. I was captivated.
Years later I discovered his work in Lust for Life, where he portrayed Vincent van Gogh. Once again I was captivated.
Rest in peace, Kirk Douglas. And thank for the fantastic cinema memories.

I didnt know that was Douglas in final countdown. I loved that movie. And they did try and stop Pearl harbor. They launched planes but the time portal appeared again and they had to recall them.

I'll post what I typed for the Books thread from the Community forum:
One of my favorites, going all the way back to the late '70s when [I]Raise the Titanic[/I] was a newspaper comic strip (I read the Dirk Pitt-starring book a few years later in high school). In recent years, I have been reading his turn-of-the-last-century-set Isaac Bell novels and have one in my reading pile to go through sometime this year.
