Marvel’s first published mutant and the group he joined, The Promise.

Sorry for answering

Mutants from Marvel's pre-superhero Silver Age. The X-Men connection is that John Byrne used them in X-Men: The Hidden Years back around 2001.

I wonder if they would approve or disapprove of Krakoa.
Also, they need a not-so-human looking member.
Byrne's characters from the Promise and the First Line were so awesome. I wish Marvel would use them especially the First Line, so much wasted potential.
Tobias Messenger should be on the council.
Sadly, it seems like Marvel has forgotten this group. :(
I'm using the Resurrection Protocols on this thread because I was just thinking about Tad Carter and the Promise the other day and how cool it would be to show them in the present day and reacting to Krakoa. John Byrne clearly hinted at Tobias Messenger still being alive at the end of The Hidden Years and it would be fun to bring him back too. I love these continuity deep-cuts and as the first published mutant ever created by Stan Lee, not to mention a powerful telepath and telekinetic, Tad Carter is long overdue for a role in the current X-Men comics.

Thank you! I was flipping through The Hidden Years recently because I'm such a sucker for John Byrne's art, and loved how he used Tad again and how he set up Tobias Messenger as a sort of anti-Xavier/Magneto.
Also love the idea that Stan Lee created mutants, a telepath/telekinetic, mutant hatred and a telepathic leader all before X-Men issue one came out. That Amazing Fantasy story really is a pilot that was reshot sometime later and renamed X-Men.
