Well this is the second faux pas against mutants since the birth of Krakoa so she's used up her forgiveness card. There isn't a double standard unless Sabertooth and Nature Girl get second chances.

Another Wanda story attempting to redeem her misdeeds ends up as a mess. Shocker.
How many years has it been since House Of M now? And she's still carrying around that baggage. If they actually had her take responsibility in a legitimate way instead of constant poorly written retcons we would have moved on by now.
She should have joined the X-Books upon her return and worked for her redemption with them. Instead we got the unbothered/smug portrayal in Uncanny Avengers which made her look even worse. Granted, that was written by a guy who hadn't the faintest clue about minority issues, so hardly unsurprising. How could anyone ever forget "Call me Alex", or comparing growing up as a "skater boy" to being a mutant.

She’s tried repowering the mutants she depowered, and in the last couple of years tried to resurrect the dead of Genosha as ways to atone for what she did. It’s not exactly the character’s fault that the writers keep on doing things like turning her attempts at atonement into a zombie apocalypse.
Why are people acting like Wanda didn't have a whole solo series where she was relieved to not be a mutant? She got a whole boyfriend and everything with Voodoo in another book. The only reason she wasn't being used was because the Avengers office wasn't using.
As per this story, it appears Leah technicality says Wanda is his daughter. It is a re-retcon, also known as an "un-con." It establishes that Wanda is a mutant again Wanda's act of M-Day and her non-mutant origin was unconned at the end of Wanda: Redemption and Rebirth, which this title is carried over from.
It did not do that. Because it's still the same Wanda that ends up being a fake mutant later. Wanda's x-gene was never removed from her. The High Evolutionary just faked that she was a mutant. Her raising herself and not being reborn through the protocols doesn't undo the retcon. This isn't a mutant clone or anything.
As far as Mags, they haven't undone that either. Could happen next issue. But seems most likely that they have him consider himself like a father, like he stated. But not have the biological link. They still have made a mystery person who murdered Wanda's real mother Natalya the father.

Because people like to make up their own fanon.

This would have been a better fate, a flogging for a few years then with Krakoa forgiveness. Instead we got denial, snide remarks over mutilating others, acceptance, Karen like woe is me behaviour instead of acknowledging the magnitude of the harm she caused. Then deflection. Then finally acceptance once again and an attempt to make ammends by repeating past mistakes and now this. So I don't know where she stands now until it stops being about her and we start have her acknowledge everyone she hurt repeatedly for a whole solo series.
Wtf is an Echo? Is that Wanda's new sibling? Were they at the "Trial"? Did THEY kill Wanda?
Daredevil character whose father was killed by Kingpin, who was the first Ronin.
The issue was fine, but geez another Wanda redemption attempt that ends up screwing over mutants. Writers should just ignore M-day forever

Well Nature girl did
And if Wanda's not a mutant then she won't be judged by Krakoan laws same way Magneto and Apocalypse aren't judged by human ones anymore.
Not to mention she did try and atone for this multiple times on top being possessed by the life force so I'd rather they move on w/ this.

Nature Girl was found guilty Krakoa helped her escape behind the QCs back.
Wanda commited crimes against mutants after the nation of Krakoa. So she would be found guilty of attacking a nation twice by human law.
She hasn't tried to atone "multiple times" unless you're counting making things worse. Are you talking about Rictor and Empyre? Cause those are the only two times shes tried to "atone". She was an antagonist that summoned the Phoenix in AvX. The writers have tried to sweep it under a rug and as result made the situation look even worse.
The mistake is trying to make it Wanda centric the key thing is to make it mutant victim centric and have Wanda participate
Those 2 are like C or D-List X-men though Marvel probably thought they weren't needed/valued. And are we still dealing with it I can't recall the last time we had a Crucible. The 5 are probably on Genosha victims at this point.
Callisto went through her Crucible a few months ago in Maraurders. It popped up this year in Way of X as well as New Mutants. Thats at least 3.
Also Prodigy, himself only got repowered last year

I mean, I literally spent half my post blaming the writer of Uncanny Avengers for her awful/tone deaf portrayl.

Agreed. Marvel aren't good at redemption arcs, from Jean, to Bishop, to Cyclops, not a single one of them has been pulled off without editorial making a mess of things. It really shouldn't be that difficult.
Unfortunately for Wanda, she's too far gone as a character to ever pull it back. It's a bit like Beast, they're essentially unsalvagble characters in my eyes.

Resurrecting the Genoshan dead was never gonna be a way to atone for her sins as she didnt kill them. Resurrecting the ones that were killed as a result of M-Day would have made far more sense. There isnt really much to justify in Empyre as her plan was ill thought and quite stupid. At the very least she should have done a test run on one dead person instead of an entire island

Well considering the writer’s can barely care to portray her well these days outside of Robinson and Zub I’m not exactly shocked at that. It was at least an effort on her part, and I’m bringing it up because people act like she never felt any guilt over it. People do remember in Children’s Crusade she was willing to go into the X-men’s custody and even let them kill her until Emma Frost decided to try and mind control her kids right?
