I was nuts about magic back then - the Doug Henning specials, Bill Bixby's The Magician, The Magic of Mark Wilson... if it was magic, I wanted to see it.

Me too! I never had the magic cards. But I did love Bill Bixby's The Magicianshow.

What's mystifying is that he apparently died on February 10th. And for me, he's always going to be Stringfellow Hawke on Airwolf. I have the complete series on DVD from a store closing sale but hadn't gotten around to rewatching the series yet.

JMV had lived quite a reclusive life out in rural Missouri for the better part of two decades. He hadn't acted since around 2000, and had fallen out of the spotlight. Not too surprising that it took some time for word to reach the media.

Here's a few clips of Marshall Brodien (Wizzo) and Bob Bell (Bozo) from WGN's Bozo's circus. This was live television and mostly unscripted. You have to turn the sound icon on down on the lower right when it starts
* Never mind ....video removed by Antenna TV. *

Back then, the networks had TWO dueling shows about badass choppers. CBS had Airwolf while ABC adapted Blue Thunder into a TV show.

Worth pointing out that he also had a decent turn in the original version of The Mechanic alongside Charles Bronson.

Veteran TV star Jed Allan, best known for his roles on Beverly Hills, 90210, and Days of Our Lives, died on Saturday at his home in Palm Desert, California. He was 84.
The actor's son, Rick Brown, shared the news on Facebook with a post on a fan page dedicated to his father.
"So sorry to post the very sad news of my father’s passing tonight. He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others," Brown wrote.
Allan, who starred as C.C. Capwell on the soap opera Santa Barbara and Don Craig on Days of Our Lives, also played Rush Sanders on Beverly Hills, 90210, the father of Ian Ziering's Steve Sanders.
https://www.etonline.com/jed-allan-beverly-hills-90210-star-and-soap-opera-veteran-dead-at-84-121243
He also hosted a show called Celebrity Bowling in the 1970s which featured . . . celebrities bowling. (Honest!)

Yes, I heard this notice. Sad.
Jed Allen was a good actor. I liked his Don Craig character. His last role as Don Craig was to go out and mail a letter. He never returned. Even back then, I was like, "No, don't go out to the mailbox!", Lol!

My mother used to watch Days of Our Lives when I was a kid, so I definitely remember and liked him on there. Celebrity Bowling was on late at night, so I never saw it (unlike Bowling for Dollars which I watched with my family). I also never saw him on Lassie until fairly recently, FWIW.

One of the greats, no doubt. Anybody who enjoys '60s/'70s rock will have heard some of his musical contributions.

Pioneering guitarist and progenitor of surf rock with “Let’s Go Trippin'” and “Miserlou” inspired generation of musicians
Dick Dale, “the King of the Surf Guitar,” has died at the age of 81.
California Rocker first reported that Dale died Sunday. His bassist Sam Bolle confirmed Dale’s death to the Guardian. No cause of death was revealed, but the guitarist suffered from health issues in recent years. In 2010, Dale said he was battling rectal cancer, and in an interview that went viral, Dale said in 2015 that “I can’t stop touring because I will die” due to medical expenses stemming from cancer treatment, diabetes and renal failure. “I have to raise $3,000 every month to pay for the medical supplies I need to stay alive, and that’s on top of the insurance that I pay for,” Dale said at the time.
As the progenitor of the surf rock genre and an innovator who helped stretch the possibilities of the electric guitar, Dale inspired musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Ry Cooder and the Beach Boys. Dale’s “Miserlou” also notably featured in the opening credits sequence of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
You can read the rest here:
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/dick-dale-surf-guitar-king-dead-obituary-809294/
