Book Of Boba Fett (2021)
Figured we can have a separate thread for this now we know it's a independent series to Mandalorian.
Two questions I would love Book of Boba Fett (or at least some future Star Wars content) to answer in regards to Tatooine:
a. Whatever happened to Jabba's son, Rotta? Essentially the big plot point of the 2008 Clone Wars movie his fate after the prequels (plus whoever the heck his mother is) remains a bit of a mystery, and assuming he was alive after his dad's death and old enough to attempt to gain power, I figure he could be an interesting character for a Boba Fett series. (I realize Jabba's family is a tad backstabby so he might be dead but still.)
b. In expanded lore Jabba's biggest competitor was Lady Valarian, a Whiphid (think warthog like) female crime boss operating from Mos Eisley, and is I gather still in continuity. Did she attempt to take over Tattoine after Jabba's death and could she actually turn up in live action or animation some day? Just the description makes her an interesting character and she could be a great threat to Boba's rise to power... or a total pushover, but still!

As someone was in the "Boba Fett sucks" camp, surprised to say I'm actually looking forward to this show. :p
-
One thing I'd like to see expanded upon is his relationship with Fennec: What made him decide to save her, (it couldn't have been easy) had they maybe even met before? How much of her is cybernetic now, what are the conditions of her service to him and is it finite or is she indebted forever? They seem to have a good rapport and work together well. I hope that it's actually a good relationship rather than her being in any way reluctant. Boba's supposed to be a bad guy, but I hope he's not that bad a bad guy...
-
Wonder if Boba would take out a contract on Han and Leia again for revenge for Jabba's death, like he did in the old comics; although CGIing young Han and Leia might be kind of tough (CG young Leia in ROS was mostly covered, and even recent example Luke was also covered by a hood and standing still).
-
I don't know if you could do them convincingly. Mark Hamil seems to have this problem where nobody can get his face right and The Mandalorian was kind of obvious with the stand in. Leia didn't really have to do much but maybe they could get it right with Harrison Ford.
-
Since they can't have a young Han Solo appear in any meaningful way, I'd rather they just throw in a line about how Boba doesn't care - whether he has bigger fish to fry or that it he doesn't hold grudges for things that happen in the heat of battle, etc. That said, a space battle between Slave-1 and the Falcon where all you see of Han is that fuzzy blue hologram where he and Boba hash it out....? Maybe ....

I think we're going to see Boba and Fennec meet in Bad Batch.
Ironically enough she seems to serve a similar role to Boba that Zam Wesell did for Jango. Hopefully Boba doesn't kill her like his dad did his partner.

Now that I think about it, yeah. Honestly can't believe I didn't notice the similarity.

My first thought too when he repeated the "just a simple man" line. Even acts as the sniper to his gunslinger.

I am STILL in that camp. Some many other Mandos are better ... that being said .. I am pumped for this.
Largely due to Fennec.

I really want to see what the next five minutes of this scene was...
"Okay - we have the throne... what now? Want a drink?"
"No"
"... So.... How long are we going to just sit here?"
"I'm taking in the moment."
"You got it, boss.... >glug glug<"

More Ming-Na Wen is never a bad thing :).

I'm not really convinced of that show, I mean I like Boba Fett, but the Actor seems way to old (Boba is significantly younger than Bo Katan).
I want to see Fett in his prime and not as an grizzled old man who barely fits in his armor.

Eh, it's pretty typical Hollywood age play, and not even a really egregious one either.
You mention Bo-Katan, did you feel Katee Sackhoff was unbelievable in that role? She is playing a character that is at least ten years older than she actually is, and one that's lead a hard, violent life at that so you wouldn't be off base in casting an older woman to play her and yet because Katee did the character's voice for so long and she does have the right physical presence(as seen in Battle Star Galactica) that it just feels right despite it all. And it's not unusual either, in a profession where youth is often seen as a benefit younger actors often play older characters.
Similarly, on the other end of the spectrum you'll often see older actors, especially male actors, play younger characters and Temuera Morrison playing a character that's twenty years younger than him isn't the most egregious...especially when you factor in that the character was partially digested by a giant sand monster so it's not like he's going to look in his prime.
-
She feels like Bo-Katan from the animated show, but thinking about it they probably should have gone with an older actress (or made her look older).
And there is often wired stuff going on with the ages of characters in comparison to their actors, and some actors can pass as older or younger, but Temuera Morrison is clearly way older than Katee Sackhoff and Rosario Dawson, and based on the Clone Wars Show Boba is younger than them.
Like I said would have prefered a Boba in his prime, even if that's of corse kind of Redundant when we have Mando.
I think I would have preferred to get Temuera Morrison as Rex (or one of the other clones) and someone else (maybe Daniel Logan) as Boba.

I have come to learn the universal truth that everything is better with Ming-Na Wen.

I mean, if he's playing Rex he kind of has to play Boba. Even if he's obviously older he hasn't seem to lost a step in Mandalorian.

Not by much. Ahsoka would be maybe a year or two older than Boba, and Bo-Katan might be as little as 5-7 years (I think you could easily make the argument that she was 18-19 during TCW, based on how Sabine was treated during Rebels at roughly that same age). Both Bo-Katan and Ahsoka are just about right, age wise, in terms of the actresses. Morrison is too old for Boba, but we can probably excuse that as well. Boba would have lived a hard life, with the bounty hunting and the scrapping to get by. And then he nearly got digested by a Sarlacc, which can't be good for your health. He's basically been on the front line of somebody's war since he was a kid. I don't see any reason he wouldn't look the part.

I don't think Boba is suppose to be grizzled old man. I feel the actors age shows off how much being thrown into the pit messed him up. Another thing to remember is that Boba is a clone and they have accumulated aging.
-
Boba is an unaltered clone of Jango. He ages normally.
He fell into the Sarlaac, spent presumably years on Tatooine, and gained some weight. If we can write off how much Obi-Wan aged by comparison to Bo Katan, I'm sure we can wright off Boba who was constantly in combat and had what may be the worst 5 years of his life.

Wonder if they might bring in Daniel Logan in for some flashbacks. He looks even more like Temura now!

Makes too much sense not to do it. I know Daniel Logan would probably be down for it.

Several of the cast, directors, and the stunt guy for Boba say the Book of Boba Fett is going to be darker and grittier than the Mandalorian.
And all the warp gifts and promo pieces are calling this Season One now.
Must have had more story to tell!
-
Regarding the ages of actors and the characters.....some of the discrepancies might be explained away by the particular lifespans of the species/people involved?
I figure if you're a human from Mandalore, you and your ancestors lived in a different environment with a different orbit than a human who came from Tatooine.
Add in the difficult, harsh lives these people live, the occasional semi-digestion by a desert tentacle monster.....and you probably have a lot of leeway in how old they look compared to how old they "should" look.

It's really interesting that we went from that Star Wars: Underworld show that was never made, to that video game starring Boba that never got made, to a Boba show dealing with the underworld.

So is this the first live action star wars villain-protagonist project?

It's ironic. They could save others from cancellation, but not themselves.

I loved the poster underwhelmed by the trailer.

I think they're playing their cards close to their chest with what they show.
-
Something tells me Boba is going to drop that whole table of mob bosses into the pit.
-
See, I thought the trailer was great. It didn't give much, if anything, away but the tone and characters at the table looked fantastic.
-
I am really hyped for this show. I love the fact that Boba has become so popular after being on screen the the original movies for what like 6 minutes total and he is "Killed" by a blind guy.
-
I loved Boba Fett as a kid. I thought he was almost as cool as Vader... But This Looks Boring.
"Rule with Respect?" "Speak Freely?"
I'd rather have a show about a Scum and Villainy Character. Boba Fett has the manners of Din Djarin. Its almost like watching the same guy here.

I feel in love with him when he kind of talked tough to Vader.
"He is no good to me dead." Then Vader is like "The Empire will compensate you for your losses." In my head cannon if that were Ig-88, Dengar, Bossk, or 4-Lom that talked that smack to him Vader would have Force choked them into next week (Or light sabered the Hell out of the droid bad guys) But nope he let it slide with Boba because the dude was a beast!

Agreed. Fett had this cold and mysterious voice about him. You didn't know much about character, but you knew this guy was no joke. And just like you said, not many people are brave enough to talk to Vader let alone receive a diplomatic reply from him. Only Tarkin received the same respect. (LoL, in the comics, Vader almost killed Jabba and slaughtered most of the residents in his palace when Jabba made similar requests. Vader was having none of it)
I also loved Fett's Armor and Jetpack.
Sometimes with characters, the less you know, the better. I understand people change when they get older but this new Boba Fett has none of the appeal than the one from ESB

When I saw him on ESB I just got that feel from seeing him that was a guy you didnt want to test! Even Vader knew that.
I am looking forward to the show and I think I will enjoy it. But you are right this Boba just from the little bit I have seen feels different then the ESB.

I think that is suspect. The whole vibe of the trailer and then ending it with Boba going murder city on a random guy ... makes be think Boba is just waiting to burst with violence.
The cast and crew said this show is WAAAY darker & grittier than Mando.
I still think we'll see Boba drop that whole table of mob bosses.
