As the current administration comes to an end, I keep thinking of these lyrics:
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

Today it was announced that George "Jojo" Kooymans (72), guitarist, occasional vocalist, and founding member of Dutch rock band The Golden Earring, has been diagnosed with the crippling disease ALS. The sad news has prompted the band members to announce the end of their musical career as a unit.
The Golden Earring was one of the most enduring and popular Dutch music acts, and even enjoyed some fame internationally which songs like 'Radar Love' and 'Twilight Zone'.
Here they are in 1969 with Kooymans front and center (singing lead), performing 'Another 45 Miles', a song that helped establish them as more than just a flash in the pan from the beat era.

Man, I don't think that I'd heard this one in over 30 years. I was checking out some other Cars songs a couple of weeks ago to see if there were any more that I wanted to get on iTunes and remembered how much I loved it!

This ( and the other vids associated with this album) is where Steve Clark became a rock star "icon"...at least as far as the 80's hard rock is concerned. Les Paul slug down to your knees, the hair, everything...he's the epitomy of guitar hero.
RIP Dusty
