But would the brand seriously be damaged if 'Men' wasn't in the title?
If you just change the name of something, you basically lose your brand as you no longer have recognition. It takes a lot of effort to move a brand over to a new name and it can backfire.

Obviously - the franchise has been known by this name since forever.
Plus, "To me, my X-people" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

It is a marketing argument. Is it an honest one? What does this “brand” have in common with the X-men written by Claremont? Nothing, in my opinion.

At this point its getting really fucking stupid. Feminists used to complain that they didnt call the x-women x-man too. Now they want to change the name. One thing is to be progressive and the other is to be fucking ridiculous.

I am not sure where you are going with this, like do you mean that none of the MCU movies should be using the names and characters because they pretty much have nothing in common with the source material? Sure. Do you mean Marvel comics should stop using the names and characters because they have little in common with the classic stories that made them popular? Sure.
But we see people just saying 'X-Men' and able to start entire discussions from just that word, with a shared understanding or at least a lot of common perceptions, and that means something to the companies that paid billions for these rights.

"X-men” means something different depending on the kind of people and the material they have been reading/watching… What the industry wants to own, it’s a certitude of return on investment.
What seems to be outdated, it is an old-fashioned ideal of fraternity between everyone, without any exception, and it is what represented the X-men to me.

The ‘brand’ is the public perception of the product. To the majority of the general public, the perception of ‘x-men’ would be the animated series or the movies or a combination of the two (because those were the most popular ‘products.’) The series drew heavily on Claremont and the movies were Claremont stuck in the matrix, lol. So yes, the ‘brand’ has a lot to do with X-men by Claremont, though not exactly the same. And the public perception would also include the female characters as an important parts of the franchise, because they have been apart of the comics and every adaptation.

That’s the thing with the neo-feminists. They’re no longer out for equality for women. Instead, they’ve basically perverted the entire thing into a hatred of anything that they deem to be “the patriarchy” no matter how stupid it gets. Hell, even with this, they basically take “men” to be male rather than the plural of X-Man with “man” coming from human. The name literally means human with X-gene. But don’t let actual facts get in the way of feminist outrage especially when it’s essentially become a parody of itself.
It's the name of the team. Would the Fantastic Four brand be damaged if the movie called was called Incredible Nine? Yeah, because it isn't F4 and there's no brand recognition, meaning it would be less popular.
The X is the big thing in the name, not Men. X-Force or X-Factor could probably be as successful. And a lot of the XCU movies without the X or Men were more successful. So I don't really buy "Men" being something that can't be changed

The only outrage here seems to be from people who can't handle things changing. Ironic for a fanbase of a comic preaching equality.
-
It's outdated, sexist and offensive. To spare Disney the embarrassment of such an unfortunate branding, I'll happily take the trademark off their hands so they never have to use it again.

X is the universal sign for variable. In this case, it would mean prefix. It can't be outdated when it's already an inclusive term.

Come now, there's no reason for you to make such a sacrifice just for Disney's sake.
Lets share the burden.

It doesn't.
It preaches tolerance and acceptance - not equality.
The guy who shoots laser's out of his eyes is not equal to the average man on the street.

Also “XPeople” is already another term for the team on alternate Earth, so the point is, for all intents and purposes, moot.
