Is Demon in the Bottle still Tony's most defining story?
https://www.cbr.com/iron-man-demon-in-a-bottle-defining-moment/
I put extremis first.
I think that's more defining, because it starts with the interview about his actions in the (then) middle-east and how he's trying to move past them, and his minor rationalizations
It also shows him pushing the boundaries of his technology with the extremis virus
It also cuts to the crux of his character, using technology for good vs bad like malen.
It's still somewhat poorly developed in terms of malen and the deal with maya, but on the whole it's a good microcosm or defining story.
Demon in the bottle didn't really stick with me that much. For his alcoholism story, the stane one was better. For one it was more drawn ou. The actual demoning in the bottle lasted only 2 issues minus the build up. The relationships were better explored like with rhodey and cap.

You should post the recommended reading list as well. So new people can get a list of great Iron Man stories if they are coming in fresh.

...This armor just becomes less and less appealing to me the more I see of it.

It's just so nineties looking. All it needs is a bunch of pouches.
It's just so nineties looking. All it needs is a bunch of pouches.
Funny that - considering it's actually a 1980s design.

an 80s attempt at being extra futuristic
looked weird then, looks weird now

When Arno inevitably gets adapted for TV or film I just hope they have the sense not to use the current design.

I also hope they have enough sense to just make him Tony's biological brother and not add the adoption angle.

THIS.
Don't bother with aliens, don't need a convoluted adoption story involving Hydra, Tony just happens to have a brother. Although I'd be amused if they didn't even bother with Arno and just used Gregory Stark.
