Why does Castellucci seem to go to for Babs stories? I meanit's not horrible but the grasp of her is a bit weak and he introduces a bunch of things that don't get recognized in the wider mythos.
Think it's simply because she's the most recent writer to write her ongoing.
-
Yeah, I think it's pretty much because she was the last main Batgirl writer.
-
I hope Castellucci doesn't bring Jason Bard back...
I don't mind her bringing back Jason if it's to properly put that romance to bed.

Yeah, I'd be fine with that.
I don't mind her bringing back Jason if it's to properly put that romance to bed.
I really wouldn't have a problem with a Babs & Jason pairing if it was written well.
Then again, when I first regularly started buying/reading the Bat-books, Barbara was a Congresswoman who had been dating Jason Bard. Dick was way younger than Barbara, so they weren't dating each other.
-
That's the 1970s, right? Dick was still a teenager and Babs was in her 20s. They didn't start dating until much later, when Dick was Nightwing - and now an adult - and Babs was Oracle. New 52 de-aged Babs to be the same age as Dick.
-
I think they were retconned to be the same age in 90's.

Again? How many times are they going to retread this?
-
The article I linked does make the same point - it's happened at least twice before in main continuity, as well as in several AUs.

He doesn't know in New 52 to Rebirth so this would be the first time in this timeline

I took a long break from DC Comics starting in early 1995 and don't remember their ages having been significantly changed any back then.

I'm not a fan of this, not at all.
Also not happy they said she WAS Batgirl. I need her to still be Batgirl!
. . . Also not happy they said she WAS Batgirl. I need her to still be Batgirl!
I don't think it's been said she's no longer Batgirl PERIOD.
This is from the Stephanie Brown thread:

For those who haven't read it, Infinite Frontier confirmed this: the section featuring Barbara had her explain her new status quo as being behind the keyboard again, not because she can't go out and kick A as Batgirl but because Cass and Steph are covering that end of things for her now.
Team Batgirl has officially arrived.
Slight qualification:
They had previously had Barbara having some glitches with her implant during her solo series. This just seemed to clarify that she is not going into action as Batgirl as frequently any longer, but will do so when she's needed in that role. And I'm assuming that sometime in the future, a writer can decide to change things back to her spending more time as Batgirl / less time as Oracle (though I have no idea when that might possibly happen).
