I love Musicals!
I liked the Cats: The Musical: The Movie. It was so bizarre.

I guess how controversial this is depends on where you draw the "suck boundary" and who gets sorted on each side of it.
All of world literature began as musicals.

In the beginning, all literature was orally communicated. And to help them remember, the bards would sing the lines--often with other instruments to keep the rhythm. These stories were only written down much later. So literature begins as a musical performance.
The poem of Beowulf is the subject of much debate as to whether it was passed down through the oral tradition or whether it was an original written composition. And just when it would have originated follows from that--no less than J.R.R. Tolkien has weighed in on this debate. However, the earliest dates for Beowulf--if it was an oral performance--would be the 6th century, which is late in the history of literature. The epic poem of Gilgamesh had its origins three thousand years ago.

Mayonnaise was a mistake

Mayo on Hot Dogs is ok.

Wait. What?
Your Second must contact My Second.
Because, clearly, only a duel may settel the disparagement of such a wonderful (if judiciously applied) condiment.

I kind of knew that. :P
In my mind there's a debate whether rap is song or sound poetry. But I don't think most people make that distinction. It's all the same thing--Homer is rapping.
