If that is the person who is set to play America Chavez, then the character's been de-aged significantly.
Possibly to avoid sexualizing her. In the comics she's in her mid to late teens and mostly runs around in short-shorts.
She (the actress in question) is also a shade lighter than she's usually portrayed in the comics (mostly Young Avengers and The Ultimates because her own series lasted under a year, IRRC).
Thing is, America Chavez character also has no canon Earth ethnicity. She's not Mexican (like many thought when she first came out) or Puerto Rican or Cuban. She's extra dimensional.
She's the opposite of Sunspot where the character's first appearance gave him a color and ethnic background that factored into the character's story. Same with Miles Morales, come to think of it.
Chavez seems like she was created so Marvel could avoid ever having to say what she is exactly is.

Which would be a copout on their part quite frankly.
Besides, there's no illusion on what Clark, Conner, and Jon's race/ethnic features are meant to invoke.
This is my last post on this cause at this point I know I'm being trolled.
You guys are saying this is a light skinned latina

This actress isn't light skinned she's "brown". There's no colorism issue here they're both the same skin tone. Aight. I'm out this **** is toxic.

Posting a night light pic of someone to represent their skin tone isn't really the best idea. The "appearance people actually cared about"LOL. According to who? This argument that how she appears in her own comic and Ultimates does't matter is complete nonsense. Add to that yeah she's still darker than the actress posted above so what point are you making?
Plus I never said it was a Roberto situation just similar. Ya'll understand that 2 things don't have to be EXACTLY alike to be similar right? LOL. I think ya'll just wanna argue so lets goooooo!! lmao
-
Again, this is still a rumor right? My thing is I don't know why they aimed so damn young for a character that is always illustrated to like like a big legged full grown woman...

I have honestly been a little bit mystified at watching this conversation, but I think I got the point in this last that it seemed like maybe the counterpoint being argued was that America Chavez has never been portrayed as black.
Which of course is true, but I also don't think you were ever saying that she had been.
Nooooot really.....America in comics looks taller, fluffier hair and more thick boned.
The actress is still a kid. America's hair isn't really afro-textured.

That lovecraft country ending was so underwhelming.

Bruh... I have no idea how my post caused so much dysfunction lol. True never said or implied she was black. Just saying a brown Hispanic char was being lightened up. How thats similar to Sunspot. Dudes is like ?" Nah totally different!!!" Like wtf????lol

Of course the one time a black led broadway show makes history it's with Trauma porn sexualizing the slave-slave master relationship.

It's a rumor. They probably thought of America because she's the first latina marvel character the terminally online and eternally bored twitter users could think of. That and she travels between dimensions. America's powers have exactly diddly and squat to do with magic.

Marvel has tapped Puerto Rican director Alejandra Lopez for a future project.

They Cloned Tyrone
In conversation with Coming Soon, John Boyega described his upcoming sci-fi movie They Cloned Tyrone as “Attack the Block for stateside.”
Boyega: The film is going to be like Attack the Block for stateside, I’ll give you that. Juel’s making his directorial debut with the movie and he wrote a brilliant script. I mean, you don’t just attract Jamie Foxx with nothing, this is a really well-written one that I think is going to be a lot of fun.
