New Cable series
Did anyone else find the first issue of the new Cable series by Robinson/Pacheco, to be just blah? Maybe my hopes were too high but I kept thinking that Marvel is so desperate to have everything be entry level for new readers, that we don't get development anymore. I'm not too picky, I just thought the "back to the 90s" concept would at least be fun. On the other hand I am enjoying the Blue and Gold titles.

I think it's just the problem with all the re launches. Issue #1's tend to suck and be so introductory. And often you have to take the first several issues on intruducing the scenes, the environment, etc. It's not until issue 6 or so the book really finds its voice.

New Cable series starting off horrible. Reminds me of the movie Time Cop.
Marvel should've just stuck with X Men blue, gold and New Generation X.
New Generation X in my opinion is way better

Get rid of Cable, Weapon X and Gen X and just give us an epic X-Force with Cable, Jubilee & Warpath.

Why the fuck are you comparing Cable and Generation X though lmao.

I'm not. Maybe you need to pay attention.
I said the new Cable isn't that great. It's copying Time Cop.
Out of all the recent New series, Generation X is better.

I actually enjoy this travelling through time thing though, most comics are all in contemporary society with weird flourishes, it'd be mildly educational for Cable to time travel people might learn a bit about history.

I enjoyed it, but it was a little decompressed. I'm hoping it picks up. And would love to see them do more with Cable than just time hopping solo adventures. But I'm not going to whine about how Old Man Logan is everywhere while Cable is confined to only his solo time hopping adventure. Going to refrain from that because I don't like whiners. ;)

You whined for a year about how Old Man Logan is drawn like an old man.

Hmmm...that wasn't whining. Just artistic preference. ;)
Plus these artists draw him better. So no more whining...er, critiquing.
On a more serious note, I do think that the job of editorial is to ensure that characters' are at least somewhat consistent in terms of appearance and characterization. For example, Logan shouldn't be drawn as looking like an older badass in one book and a feeble grandpa who forgot to put in his dentures in another. That's kind of an editor's job as I see it. Their job is not, however, to tell writers that certain characters are off limits because a small yet vocal portion of the fanbase wants to see them use some other, favorite character instead. That's kind of limiting IMO, and not the best way to entice creators to tell the stories they want to tell using the casts they want to use.
Just my $.02.

Dont you mean your 3.99 or 5.99?

I really enjoyed the first issue and subscribed to the series.
I'm okay with Cable off having his own adventures for a while before returning to the X-universe. Given that he's a time-traveler, I've always assumed he did these kinds of things off-panel anyway. It would be a waste to never get to see him fighting cowboys with laser pistols!
Granted, I'll feel differently if we go several years without Cable interacting with the X-universe, but I don't think that's going to happen. So until it does, I'm all too happy to sit back and enjoy what looks to be an amazing ride through history with one of my favorite X-Men!

Cable acting too much like Time Cop now.
If I want dumb Time Cop shenanigans, I could just go watch the old Time Cop movie starring Van Damme
