At one point I saw the It Follows thing described as what if Michael Myers was an incubus. Good comparison for not really being dumb despite the slow, silent stalking of its victims and gunshhots only temporarily slowing it down.
But this would require their personal rules to be tweaked, since Michael being a virgin as far as we know for the current trilogy (+first ever film) means he shouldn't be targeted and he wouldn't be able to see it either. He could still decide to trap it like the It Follows characters did, but no reason for him to do that since he's a random spree killer, not Freddy Krueger jealous of Freddy Voorhees stealing potential victims from him.
All things being as equal as possible a direct physical fight could be a stalemate, with the It Follows villain at least being more supernatural (barring what Halloween Ends does with Michael) because of the conditional invisibility thing, and being able to feel the exact location of its cursed victims (Michael currently is being treated as not being drawn to Laurie Strode after all).
Yeah, even if It is visible to Michael, I dunno what they could do to each other that would actually put one another down. Theoretically, It could bulk Itself up to some monstrously large form and sit on Michael for a 10-count, but even the biggest thing we saw It as was just some skinny tall guy. Not sure what it's range of shifting is.

Considering that Michael was teleporting all over the place Jason Takes Manhattan-style throughout Halloween Kills, and even when people were staring right out him (like he did in Halloween 4) , He grabs the It Follows creature and Instant Transmits it into Laurie's burning basement.
